Guests say

Seadrift Cottage in Filey is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the addition of a smart TV. The property's proximity to local amenities and the beach is a highlight, as is the responsiveness of the owners. While one review mentioned habitability concerns, the overwhelming majority reflect a positive experience, with many guests planning to return.

The majority of guests have commended the property for its spotless condition upon arrival, with several reviews highlighting the cleanliness as a standout feature. One review mentioned the need to rewash some kitchen items, but this appears to be an isolated comment.

The location is frequently mentioned as ideal, with guests enjoying the proximity to shops, leisure facilities, and the beach. The ease of access to local attractions and the peaceful setting contribute to the high rating.

Comfort is consistently noted, with guests finding the beds very comfortable and the living space cosy and welcoming. The property is described as a 'home from home', suggesting a high level of satisfaction in this area.

Facilities such as the swimming pool, pub, and cafe are well-received, and the on-site amenities add value to the guests' stay. However, one review mentioned a lack of a dryer and another noted the absence of a decent bread knife, indicating some room for improvement.

While some reviews mention thoughtful touches like the provision of tea, coffee, and milk, there is not enough consistent information about gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

This lovely, end-terrace cottage is situated on The Bay, a prestigious holiday village, 3 miles from the traditional seaside town of Filey. A glorious Blue Flag sandy beach is just a short, enjoyable walk away, providing 5 miles of golden sands to play on, build sandcastles on and to paddle in the sea. Seadrift is a welcoming home-away-from-home, perfect for couples and families wishing to enjoy the Yorkshire coast and extensive on-site facilities. The comfortable interior has a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen, a downstairs toilet, and a light and airy lounge/dining room. Cosy evenings can be spent snuggling up on the sumptuous leather sofa by the bay windows. The TV and DVD player stand on a cabinet containing local information and equipment instructions. French doors by the dining area can be opened up to the rear patio, which is an ideal spot to relax with a coffee and watch the world go by. Upstairs are two peaceful bedrooms, promising a good night’s sleep. The attractive double bedroom has fitted wardrobes, whereas the second bedroom has double and one single bed. There is a family bathroom with walk in shower. Stepping outside the cottage you are greeted by the quaint ‘fishing village’ style houses, set in communal gardens, with meadowland and a lake nearby. Seadrift is in a quiet location, but benefits from the convenience of being close to the amenities offered by The Bay, such as a pub and pharmacy. Also close at hand are the heated indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room, sauna and gym (which are free to use for guests at Seadrift using the leisure pass provided.) Other facilities are available at The Bay, for an extra charge, paid locally, including beauty rooms, fitness classes, tennis, archery, scuba diving lessons, fishing and bike hire. If you can tear yourself away from The Bay holiday village, it is a lovely walk along the beach (tides permitting), to Filey, with its old world charm, where there are quirky shops, places to eat, the promenade, and terraces to sit with views of the sea and the bright flowers in the ornamental gardens. To the North lies Filey Brigg- why not try a bit of rock pooling here? Further afield is the busier town of Scarborough where you can embrace more family fun such as the Alpamare Waterpark. To the south, Bempton RSPB nature reserve is marvellous for bird lovers, with nesting seabirds, including Puffins, on the chalk cliffs. Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks, and boat trips, leading round to the resort of Bridlington.

Primrose Valley is a delightful village set in the East Riding of Yorkshire, just 3 miles from Filey. The village is home to a number of convenience stores and vibrant pubs, as well as a sandy beach with stunning seascapes. Filey offers exciting museums, lots of local eateries and a beautiful beach. Take the children to meet the adorable ponies and incredible alpaca at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park or spend the day at Playdale Farm Park. Head to the poopular resort of Scarborough and travel back in time at the Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum to see the steam-powered Victorian fairground and admire the display of classical cars and vintage motorbikes. Primrose Valley is a great base for exploring the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Coffee and breakfast at Thirty in Filey was good. Only real issue was lack of Electric Chargers (for EV) on site and in Filey. I understand this is being resolved but that would influence our decision in many places we stay.

It was hard to dry wet / damp clothes even with a maiden. Good size fridge and freezer Very comfortable beds , we all slept very well. Excellent shower. We would definitely book again and tell our friends and family. Thank you Seadrift.

What happened to the Indian Summer? The house is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. We didn't do a lot due to my husband's bad back, but went out to sightsee and had a lovely meal at Robin Hood's Bay.
