Guests say

Guests have found Forest Star to be a pleasant and tidy lodge with thoughtful touches such as provided tea, coffee, sugar, and milk. The property offers a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy furnishings. While some maintenance issues like a wobbly dining table and a problematic shower mixer valve were noted, the overall experience has been enjoyable, with guests appreciating the quiet location and expressing a desire to return.

The property was consistently described as clean and tidy upon arrival. However, there were comments about outdoor furniture being dirty, which suggests room for improvement in maintaining the cleanliness of the exterior amenities.

There is not enough information provided in the reviews to accurately assess the location. While one review mentions a quiet area, no further details are given to score this category.

The lodge is praised for its comfortable bed and sofa, and the overall stay was found to be enjoyable. However, the mention of a wobbly dining table and the lack of a bedside lamp in the twin bedroom indicates that some aspects of comfort could be enhanced.

The kitchen is well-equipped, but issues with non-stick pans peeling and a wobbly dining table persist. Additionally, the shower mixer valve problem and lack of water on departure day indicate that some facilities require attention and maintenance.

Guests appreciated the thoughtful extras like milk in the fridge and provided tea and coffee. While these gestures are well-received, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

About this property

Situated upon Cayton Bay Holiday Centre in North Yorkshire is Forest Star, a fabulous singe-storey lodge. Enjoying countryside views of the surrounding woodland and a proximity to the beach, whilst offering guests a range of on-site facilities, including an indoor swimming pool and restaurant, the lodge invites four guests, looking for a seascape near the North York Moors National Park. Take advantage of the off-road parking available before climbing the steps and entering the open-plan living space; be welcomed into a homely setting where you can prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen, gather around the dining table, and relax upon the corner sofa in front of the electric fire. Watch the sun set upon the wrap-around veranda, also designed for alfresco dining, before completing your nightly routine in the shower room. Rest your eyes in either the double with en-suite cloakroom or the twin bedroom, ahead of exploring the holiday park and its facilities; enjoy an early morning swim before venturing into the village. Take a stroll along Cayton Bay Beach, leading you towards Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club for a competitive afternoon, or if you'd prefer an afternoon at the seaside, head into Scarborough, to experience its wealth of attractions, including the Italian Gardens, Scarborough Castle, Scarborough North Bay Railway, and SEA LIFE Scarborough; further north, reach the national park and its host of beauty spots. Returning south, beyond the park, stop off at Filey, where you can brush up on your local knowledge at Filey Museum, enjoy a picturesque vantage point from Carr Naze, or follow the walking trail across the shoreline. For a true Yorkshire experience, be sure to visit Malton, a bustling market town, dotted with local vendors and produce each Saturday, a true foodies delight, whilst also providing the opportunity to tour Malton Museum, or enjoy a stroll through Willow Woods, overlooking River Derwent. Take to North Yorkshire by booking Forest Star.

Cayton, a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire's Scarborough district, is a great place for a beach getaway because it has a decent selection of services and attractions both inside the village and nearby. There are many undiscovered treasures in the settlement, which has historical relics from the Second World War, including pillboxes that have been eroded by the sea. The village has a nice number of pubs and stores that are ideal for a self-catered stay, but you can find a larger selection of waterfront restaurants in the neighbouring resort town of Scarborough, which is packed with activities for visitors of all ages. Enjoy a conventional day by the sea with a variety of sites to remember including amusement arcades, ice cream parlours, seafood shops, and beach huts all nestled around the town's sandy beaches.

Shower mixer valve not working properly the water was either too hot (scolding) or too cold. No happy medium. On the day of departure we had not water at all. Otherwise we would give the property a better rating.

The static interior is very nice. The outside veranda would be better with a small table and chairs so you could eat out. The rattan seating was very dirty and green with algae and the two camping chairs well worn. Good well equipped kitchen but didn't use the pans as non stick coating coming off. Bedrooms good and WC and shower okay. A small bedside lamp would be nice in twin bedroom. All in all a very nice week away . Thank you.

Nice touch milk in the fridge and coffee. Very comfortable bed and sofa to relax on in the evening Only trouble we had was finding the caravan on site on arrival
