Whitby 1 mile.
A lovely modern end-mews property, in a small development of holiday homes on the edge of the seaside town of Whitby. Well placed for exploring both this historic port and the stunning North York Moors, the cottage is in an elevated position above the banks of the River Esk, with gorgeous views from the back over open countryside and distant hills. Inside, it has a spacious and comfortable sitting room with Quality furnishings and decorations, coupled with wooden floors and a bright and cheerful feel. An archway leads to a contemporary, tiled kitchen, which is well equipped and has a dining area to one end. There are patio doors from the kitchen, opening onto a sunny south facing decked area, - a tranquil spot in which to sit and relax in the sunshine, with views over the communal garden area. Upstairs, the double bedroom has a private balcony overlooking the viaduct, where steam trains pass along the riverside puffing their way into Whitby station. Communal grounds lead down to the river, a haven for wildlife, with seals regularly spotted, along with birds, ducks and swans. It is an easy walk into Whitby, with its quaint, cobbled alleyways, long, sandy beaches and picturesque harbour. A climb up the 199 steps is well worth the effort, to visit the famous Whitby Abbey and enjoy the breathtaking cliff top views. Whitby provides plenty of choice of excellent restaurants and traditional tea rooms, from renowned fish and chips to oysters in one of the trendy harbourside bars! There are many attractions in this beautiful area, including pretty coastal villages such as Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, the Danby Moors Centre with its exhibitions and a trip to Goathland - known as 'Aidensfield' from Heartbeat. A must is a ride on the North York Moors Steam Railway from Grosmont, through beautiful moorland countryside to the pretty market town of Pickering. An excellent property providing a good base any time of the year.
Located at the mouth of the River Esk, the ancient fishing port of Whitby is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. With its superb coastline and the spectacular North York Moors, the region is an excellent destination for walkers, cyclists and fans of outdoor activities. Whitby itself is a charming and atmospheric town, packed with winding streets and hidden alley ways. There is also a picturesque harbour, numerous safe, sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by its famous 199 steps.

We were comfortable, warm and in just the right spot for us to not be right in Whitby. Being next to the Cinder Path it was an easy walk in and a lovely cycle into Robin Hoods Bay in the other direction. The house was well equipped and communication with the owner was great. Thank you Linda.

Very clean. The biscuits and milk in the fridge on our arrival were very welcoming. I wished we could have figured out a way to walk into Whitby centre. (our fault not the cottage owners). We would stay again without a shadow of a doubt.
