Guests consistently praise the Mallard @ Engine Shed for its prime location, modern comforts, and secure parking. The property's proximity to central Whitby and the charm of passing steam trains add to its appeal. Housekeeping is commended for their helpfulness, and the property's cleanliness and thoughtful touches, such as welcome packs and fresh flowers, are frequently mentioned, contributing to a home-from-home experience.
The majority of guests found the apartment to be spotlessly clean, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, a few guests mentioned issues such as a dirty floor and cutlery drawer, which slightly impacted the overall impression of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and convenient, with easy access to Whitby's attractions and the added bonus of secure parking. The novelty of nearby steam trains is also appreciated, enhancing the property's charm.
Guests describe the beds and sofas as comfortable, and the apartment as warm and welcoming. Some guests mentioned the mattresses being too hard or lumpy, and the noise from the electric radiators, but these were personal preferences and did not detract significantly from the overall comfort.
The apartment is well-equipped with modern bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen, though some guests suggested improvements such as additional kitchenware. The secure parking and EV charging are notable facilities. Maintenance issues were minor and promptly addressed.
The thoughtful gestures, such as welcome packs, fresh flowers, and a Christmas tree during the festive season, are frequently acknowledged and appreciated. While these gifts greatly enhance the guest experience, it is politely noted that such offerings may vary and are not guaranteed.

Accommodation and Comfort: The Mallard is a beautiful apartment (as are the others, this was our fifth visit!). It was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. The huge bed was a dream to sleep in, ensuring we woke up refreshed and ready to explore each day. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals and the living area was cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing. Location: The location is simply unbeatable. Situated just a short walk from Whitbyâs bustling harbor and the iconic Whitby Abbey, we found it incredibly convenient to explore the townâs many attractions. The nearby shops, cafes, and restaurants offered a variety of options, and we loved being able to stroll along the picturesque streets at our leisure. Overall Experience: Our stay at The Mallard was nothing short of perfect. It offered a wonderful blend of comfort, convenience, and charm, making it an ideal base for exploring Whitby. We left again with fond memories and will return. I highly recommend The Engine Shed to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Whitby.

My parents stayed next door in Premier, Transit and Lady Hilda which was ideal. We were able to use Mallard as a great base for exploring Whitby, visiting the Abbey on Hallowe'en, catching the NYMR steam train and then venturing out further to York and Robin Hood's bay. Fantastic welcome, great accommodation and really really comfortable.
