Guests say

Wayside Cottage in York receives high praise for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and well-equipped nature, offering a comfortable 'home away from home' experience. The hot tub is a standout feature, consistently appreciated by guests. While the location is noted for its privacy and proximity to local attractions, some guests mention road noise. The host, Mike, is commended for excellent communication and thoughtful touches, although these are not guaranteed for every stay.

The cottage is frequently described as very clean and well-maintained, with multiple reviews highlighting its spotless condition. Only one review mentioned a musty smell from the sofas, but this seems to be an isolated comment.

The location is generally appreciated for its privacy and convenience for exploring Yorkshire, despite some comments about road noise. The proximity to York and local amenities is a plus, although the entrance signage could be improved.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a cosy atmosphere. The spaciousness and quietness, despite being near a main road, contribute to the overall comfort.

Facilities are well-regarded, especially the hot tub, though there are suggestions for additional kitchen utensils and outdoor lighting. Maintenance is good, with only minor issues like a door handle coming off mentioned.

While many guests mention and appreciate the thoughtful touches like welcome gifts of milk and cakes, these are not consistently referenced across all reviews, and as such, cannot be guaranteed for future guests.

Cottage entrance is on a busy main road and could have been better marked especially in the dark. Hot tub was a real luxury.

The property was spacious and close to Pocklington and York. There was an added bonus of the pub and restaurant being very close as well as other eateries being just down the road.We also enjoyed a walk down the nearby canal. The beds were very comfortable, maybe an additional shower in the on suite would be beneficial. All in all a great stay.

Very warm and comfy house. Hot tub was the best one wev ever used. Lots of clean towels. Beds lovely and comfy nice new bedding. Kitchen- everything you need a dish cloth might be helpful along with the sponge provided. Also think it would be a nice touch to have cooking oil, salt and pepper in the cupboard. Stair gate and baby high chair were great. I think a welcome book with WiFi, hot tub instructions, local pub restaurant open close times number and a little tourist info would be beneficial to others. The host was amazing and came and found us when we got lost and brought us back to the property. Thanks so much.
