Guests adore the cottage's charming interior and stunning location by Sandend harbour, ideal for coastal walks and exploring fishing villages. The views and proximity to the beach are highly praised, making it a relaxing retreat. While the cottage is well-equipped and clean, some guests suggest improvements in comfort and maintenance.
The cottage is generally described as clean and tidy. However, a few guests noted issues with cleanliness such as dried food on cutlery and stains in the fridge, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is consistently lauded for its stunning views, peacefulness, and proximity to the sea, making it an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday.
While the cottage is found to be cosy, several guests mentioned that the sofa and bed could be more comfortable, and the lounge furniture is not ideal for extended periods.
The cottage is well-equipped, but guests have reported maintenance issues such as a problematic wood burning stove, a cupboard door hinge, and a leaky shower. The need for better utensils for non-stick pans was also mentioned.
There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
Portsoy 3 miles. This well-presented, former fisherman’s cottage is based in the quaint fishing village of Sandend, near Portsoy in Scotland. Situated right on the harbour front, the recently refurbished cottage boasts a wonderfully modern interior while still keeping in touch with the traditional roots of the property and location. Entering through the back door, you will meet by the open-plan living area, comprised of a cosy sitting area with log burner, helping you unwind after a day out. Into the kitchen area you will find a well-equipped setup to satisfy your culinary requirements, along with a dining table for mealtimes. Completing the ground floor is the shower room and utility room, which houses a washer and dryer. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, consisting of a double and a twin, with sloping, low ceiling and doorways. Sandend has a beautiful beach with golden sands stretching across the wide bay, perfect for swimming and surfing. Walkers will be delighted to know there are several foot path trails and from the adjoining cliff tops you can sometimes see dolphins, seals and Orca. In the village there is a working fish-house where you can purchase freshly caught fish, or larger grocery shopping can be accessed in the Co-ops of Portsoy or Cullen. After all the sightseeing, return to the comfort of this cottage to relax and plan for tomorrows outings. EPC Rating: Band G

The house is traditionally quirky, yet comfortably modern and you just can't beat the location. Kids and dog were in heaven being so close to the sea and such a wonderful beach. Will definitely be back!

Parking is a bit of a problem at the weekend but much easier to find a space during the week. Such a delight to walk straight out on to the beach. During the warmer days the property could benefit from a fan.

Peaceful in March. The cottage had everything we needed and was comfortable and cosy. Wood burning stove was great. Local supplies and resources at Portsoy and Cullen. Banff great for shopping too. Enjoyed Sandend beach as well as the beaches at Banff and Cullen. A perfect break! Katie
