Had a really good time at Smiddy Bothy. Owner was very nice and communicative, cottage and tub were very clean. Only small downside is that there's no reception and Internet, but that's not a big deal as the area is gorgeous and there's enough to do to keep you busy anyway! A lovely break from every day life. Would recommend highly.

All in all we really enjoyed our time at the Smiddy Bothy. It was clean the bed was comfortable, shower adequate and the hot tub under the moon and stars was fantastic . Sofa's were comfortable and the two TV's worked well although limited channel's.There were a few issues, no full sized mirror for wife,a few chipped plates, the cooker was awful , towel rail didn't work and the front door is really in need of fixing ( a good kick to get out and really slam to close) .

What a brilliant wee lodge! Owner Alan so friendly and had a lovely dog.Place was so clean and you had everything you needed. Hot tub was huge and nice having the fountains and lights. Garden is a decent size although we didn't use due to cold weather! Bed and couches comfy. Living room and bedroom very spacious. Couldn't get WiFi in lodge but wasn't bothered. We took a Firestick for TV and tethered using mobile data. The only thing that was needed was a bigger mirror in bedroom to do hair/make up. We will be back but in nicer weather. Edzell as a place is great. We had dinner at Panmure Arms twice and was amazing. The coffee shop as you come into Edzell has lovely food for lunch, chicken broth yummy. Sinclair's Larder, we went for coffee which was delicious then went back next day for lunch, out if this world. Bel's Butchers is definitely worth a visit, the homemade pate is the best.
