Guests say

Tower Lodge is highly praised for its idyllic location, comfortable accommodation, and thoughtful touches. Guests enjoyed the proximity to scenic spots and the well-equipped cottage, with special mentions of the wildlife and cosy wood burner. While most found it clean, a few noted areas for improvement.

Most guests found Tower Lodge to be clean and well-maintained, though there were isolated comments about the need for a deeper clean and pet hair on the carpet. These instances seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location is consistently lauded for its beauty and convenience for exploring local attractions. The proximity to Loch Awe and various glens, as well as the seclusion and wildlife sightings, contribute to its high rating.

Guests found the accommodation very comfortable, with good beds and a warm atmosphere. Some concerns were raised about seating for larger groups and one mention of a problematic shower, but overall, comfort levels were rated highly.

The lodge is well-equipped with a kitchen, bird feeder, and firepit, among other amenities. However, there were comments about the log burner and heating control, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Many guests appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as treats on arrival and the provision of waterproofs. While these gestures are warmly received, it should be noted that such personal touches are subject to change and not guaranteed.

About this property

Tower Lodge is a superb detached cottage, located in the pretty village of Lochawe, situated just above the loch of the same name. Kick off your boots and coats, leave them in the porch area by the front door and walk through to the open-plan living space. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating for four adults to curl up of an evening while watching your favourite shows, with the delightful woodburning stove to keep you warm during those chilly winter months. For the children, there is room to join the adults in the living room but the large downstairs bunk bedroom has a couch, TV, and DVD player to keep them entertained in their own space. The dining area comfortably seats four adults and makes for a wonderful social space to enjoy your delicious home-cooked meals, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, with all modern appliances on-hand. The dining table can be folded out for up to six (there are two other chairs in other rooms; plus two fold out chairs in the cupboard). Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where the remaining two bedrooms are located, consisting of a spacious twin room and a double bedroom which opens directly onto the balcony overlooking the Loch through the woodland. The family bathroom offers a bath and electric shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day or freshen up after a day in the Scottish hills. Outside has a well-kept garden with a sheltered west-facing stone area with a bench and chiminea, so you can sit out by the fire enjoying the country views through the woodland across to St Conan’s tower. While you're in the area, take the time to visit the wonderful ruined structure of Kilchurn Castle, which dates back to the mid-15th century and offers stunning views across the loch, or the quirky St Conan’s Kirk built in medieval style in the late 1800s. For those sporty types, visit the mountain of Ben Cruachan, which has opportunities for climbing and hiking. Due to its rural location, you are ideally placed for walking and cycling opportunities, with scenic views all round. Take advantage of Loch Awe, the third largest freshwater lake in Scotland, which is on your doorstep and enjoy some fishing or hire a boat. The welcoming Cruachan Inn is a convenient 10 minutes’ walk away offering excellent food. Travel a few miles to Dalmally Golf Club, which has a 9-hole course, suitable for amateurs and professionals alike. Visit the towns of Oban and Inverary, which are both only 45 minutes away, or drive less than an hour to beautiful Glen Orchy or dramatic Glen Coe. So much to do in this remote location, you won't want to miss it! Tower Lodge is the perfect choice for a relaxing break to the countryside. EPC Rating: Band E

Clean, tidy and cosy (once the vagaries of a rogue storage heater were promptly remedied following two phone calls to the owner and access gained to the wood store). Well located for visiting the region enabling us to have an enjoyable break in a part of Scotland we hadn't visited for over 30 years.

Had a wonderful trip made all the better with the excellent home comforts provided by the Lodge. Would highly recommend both the Tower Lodge and the beautiful surrounding areas with many interesting and scenic activities.

We have been to Scotland several times now. Always in Cottages. Our stay in Tower Lodge clearly stands out above average. Not too big or too small. Good mattresses. Clean. Good facilities, well-equipped kitchen. Very nice location. Pleasant contact with the owner. There were no real negatives for us. A tip would be to tackle the waste bins a bit differently with sturdier solutions and the ceiling of the hallway has of course seen better days (due to a leak or something similar). However, these are minor things.
