Kippford Stables is a charming cottage in the scenic town of Kippford, offering lovely views and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-furnished interiors, the provision of necessary amenities, and the welcoming touches for both humans and pets. While some guests have highlighted areas for improvement, the property's location and the overall experience have been positively received, making it a recommended base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway.
The cottage has received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it well-kept, while others noted issues with dust, mould, and general tidiness. These concerns suggest room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its excellent views and proximity to local attractions. Despite some comments about nearby hotel activity, the overall sentiment is that the location is wonderful and convenient.
Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a warm atmosphere. However, some have mentioned a lack of internet access and noise disturbances, which slightly detract from the comfort level.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped cottage and excellent views from the decking. Nonetheless, there are mentions of maintenance issues and the absence of Wi-Fi, indicating that some facilities could be enhanced.
While there are mentions of a lovely welcome pack for guests and pets, it is not a consistent theme across the reviews, and as such, it cannot be guaranteed for future guests. Therefore, a score cannot be accurately provided.
Cosy cottage with views to the estuary and set in the heart of Kippford, just a short walk to all the village's restaurants, pubs and tea rooms.
Kippford Stables has been recently modernised and provides a cosy holiday base in the popular seaside village of Kippford, conveniently located behind the Anchor Hotel and with only a short walk to the other restaurants and tearooms that the village has to offer.
The spacious sitting room with dining area is on the first floor to make the most of the views to the estuary and across to Screel, the highest peak in the local area. The terrace garden to the rear of the cottage is accessed over a bridge and has attractive seating areas allowing the sunsets to be fully enjoyed and setting the water and hills of to stunning effect.
Kippford is a popular sailing destination and is busy with yachts and dingies together with small commercial fishing craft, these all provide a forever changing scene on the river. There is direct access to various walks which also link to longer coastal paths while it is only a short drive to the numerous fabulous sandy beaches which dot the Solway Firth in-between rugged headlands. The local area has lots of choice for outdoor pursuits including easy access to the 7 Stanes mountain bike trails, a wide variety of golf courses, lochs and forests for fishing or wildlife watching.

We stayed in Kippford. It's a quiet, lovely seaside location, it's a great base to explore towns all within a short journey by car. New Abbey, Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas are all a short drive away. Dumfries and Kirkcudbright are a bit further afield, but both are worth a visit. For those who are interested in nature can find the Mersehead nature reserve within a 15 minute drive from Kippford. From Kippford village there is a lovely walk to nearby Rockcliffe village. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to Kippford or anywhere in Dumfries and Galloway.

Kippford Stables is in need of a good clean and some much needed maintenance. There is a strong damp musty smell in the main bedroom and a strong smell emanating from shower drain in the bathroom. This is why there seems to be lots of air fresheners on the ground floor. The kitchen ceiling has a huge crack in it and the plaster is sagging to the point that it might fall at any moment. Picture attached. Cobwebs and spiders in every corner, slugs on the walls and worktops in the kitchen! Garden tatty, the hand rails of the bridge and seating areas need painting and the decking looks dangerous. Not very inviting to sit outside. The lower garden needs the old wooden furniture and the old fence panels, that are leaning against the back of the house, removing. Couldn't see out of the main bedroom front window due to the over grown weeds and plants that are covering it. A huge smart TV but there's no wifi! Old biscuits left in the biscuit tin and although the welcome hamper looked good a lot of the stuff was out of date. Over the fifty years that we've been coming to this fantastic area this is one of the worst properties we've stayed in.

Perfect accomodation for those looking for a relaxing break with gorgeous views, wonderful sun trap sitting out areas and two pubs with good food on the doorstep. I would highly recommend Kippford Stables as a truly great find. Though I would rather keep it a secret.
