Guests say

Borgan Cottage is highly praised for its peaceful and beautiful location, offering a tranquil retreat with abundant wildlife and scenic walks. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the cottage's suitability for pets. The property's charm and the owner's responsiveness add to the positive experience, despite some minor maintenance issues.

Most guests find the cottage spotless, particularly the kitchen and bedrooms. However, a few mention issues with dog hair and a specific odour in the living room and downstairs bathroom, suggesting room for improvement in ensuring thorough cleaning between stays.

The cottage's location is consistently lauded for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to walking trails and local amenities in Newton Stewart. Its remote setting is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful getaway.

Guests describe the cottage as homely, cosy, and comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Some guests note the steep stairs and the upstairs bathroom's angled roof as potential challenges for the elderly or very young.

The property is well-equipped with a range of high-quality kitchen appliances, and guests appreciate the extra storage for bikes. However, there are mentions of a problematic drain, a non-working washing machine, and the need for minor repairs, indicating some attention to maintenance is required.

While guests express gratitude for the owner's responsiveness and the overall welcoming atmosphere of the cottage, there are no specific references to gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

Take your bags through to the homey double bedroom and place your belongings in the spacious storage provided. Guests staying in the ground-floor twin bedroom will be delighted by the short walk to the downstairs bathroom, where they can treat themselves to an afternoon soak in the bath or a thoughtful morning shower. Following a tiring expedition to the local area, allow yourself to rest up on the sofas in the sitting room, where on a cold winter's day you can get nice and toasty by the woodburning stove. Make the most of the conservatory, a bright and airy room that is great for socialising with friends or indulging in a book during some alone time. Step out from the large patio doors and into the garden for a spot of alfresco dining in the summertime. Climb the staircase up to the ample first floor where you will discover a further two bedrooms, one twin and one double, as well as a chill out area, bathroom and plenty of extra storage space. Back outside, you will find an outbuilding containing logs for your woodburning stove, as well as a drying area. A short drive will take you to the Wood of Cree where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the largest ancient wood in southern Scotland. For a more challenging walk, visit the stunning Cairnsmore of Fleet, framing unspoilt views across the grassland and purple heather from the summit. Stock up on food and supplies in the burgh town of Newton Stewart where you can also find some delightful eateries and pubs. Here you can immerse yourself in local history with a tour of The Museum Newton Stewart, set inside a disused church, or test your swing with a round of golf at Newton Stewart Golf Club. The house is very clean and spacious. The beds are very comfortable and the downstairs bathroom has a lovely big bath and shower. Everything that could be needed in the kitchen was available. The table tennis in one of the outbuildings was an added bonus. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a clear sky one evening and were able to view an amazing sky full of stars, while sitting around the huge firepit. I would highly recommend this holiday cottage to everyone.

It's was absolutely beautiful when the sky is clear you can see stars for miles. The garden is great for kids and dogs alike. It's easy to find and a great place to relax. The walks are perfect if like us you have a collie who needs miles to finally settle down for the day. We will absolutely be back to visit.
