The location receives high praise for its fabulous views, direct beach access, and proximity to local amenities. It's considered ideal for peaceful holidays and outdoor activities.

Guests find the beds good and the house warm, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, some mention a noisy boiler and a bedroom with an oil smell, slightly detracting from the comfort.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the owner, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Albany Cottage is a classic family holiday cottage sleeping 7, fronting onto the popular sandy cove of Rockcliffe beach in the picturesque coastal village on the Solway Firth.

The accommodation has both a ground floor bedroom and separate shower room, a particular feature is that the living room and bedrooms have sea views. The traditional construction makes it a light and airy house with good sized rooms ensuring space for all even with large groups. The Reception Hall/Dinning room is welcoming while the adjoining sitting room’s wood burning stove makes it snug and cosy in winter after a day out exploring the local area.

The cottage makes a perfect base for family beach holidays also with walks through the near by wild flower meadows and woodland managed by the National Trust for Scotland. These walks take you over the hill to the “sister” village of Kippford which is a popular and busy sailing and water sports centre with two hotels and a tea room all making excellent stops for refreshments before you return home. Nearby, Colvend has a general store and tea room, more facilities can be found in ‘The Granite Town’ of Dalbeattie, 7 miles away.

The beautiful Solway Coast offers spectacular scenery and wildlife, with a bird sanctuary on Rough Island, accessible at low tide and an rspb Reserve at Mersehead, a short drive away. Local leisure facilities include sailing in the neighbouring village of Kippford and golf courses at Colvend, Southerness, Kippford and Dalbeattie. ‘World-class’ mountain-biking opportunities (7 Stanes) and walks are popular in the nearby Dalbeattie forest.

Albany Cottage is on the right side of the pair of semi detached cottages and the adjoining Munro Cottage can be taken so that larger groups may be together in one location.
