Rose Cottage is generally praised for its cleanliness, picturesque location, and wildlife-rich surroundings. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere and the thoughtful touches from the owner, such as welcome gifts. While some guests encountered issues with facilities and maintenance, the majority had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, often highlighting the garden and the opportunity to observe nature.
The majority of guests found Rose Cottage to be immaculately clean, contributing to a pleasant and welcoming stay. Occasional remarks about a strange smell and soiled water from the washing machine suggest isolated incidents rather than a common trend.
The cottage's location is frequently described as tranquil and ideal for nature lovers, with easy access to local attractions and wildlife. Some concerns about road safety and the speed of passing vehicles were noted, but these were not widely mentioned.
Comfort levels at Rose Cottage are generally high, with guests enjoying the cosy setting and warm welcome. However, some guests reported issues with cold temperatures in certain rooms and uncomfortable seating, which affects the overall comfort score.
While the cottage is well-equipped for a comfortable stay, there are several reports of maintenance issues such as problematic knives, pan lid handles, and a lack of sharp knives. Additionally, the absence of an airer and issues with the water supply and heating system have been highlighted.
The owner's thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome gifts of wine and biscuits mentioned by several guests. However, as these gifts are subject to the owner's discretion and may not be a consistent offering, they should not be expected by future guests.

Clean, comfortable and welcoming. A huge garden, woods to explore and a whole variety of birds to watch feeding. There are many dog friendly attractions nearby, beaches, castles, stately homes. Looking forward to going back sone.

The setting is delightful within the woodland and near a working dairy farm. We enjoyed the abundance of birds including Woodpeckers, Jay, Nuthatch and the more usual visitors. Several mornings there were two red Squirrels but we saw at least one daily. The owner had filled a large number of feeders which we topped up. On our last evening a browsing small red deer delighted us with a visit. The cottage is comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed visits to Glenwham Gardens ( dog friendly), Portpatrick, Portlogan, Drummore and walks near the Rhins and along the promenade in Stranraer. A really lovely part of the South West of Scotland.

Itâs a lovely spot and the cottage suited our needs very well. The garden is full of birds and there was a red squirrel who visited the bird-feeder everyday. Would recommend it.
