This cottage sits on the shores of the River Tay in the midst of West Lights, a cluster of eleven properties grouped around a working lighthouse that dates back to 1823. It is a short walk (0.5 miles) from the centre of Tayport, a charming town nestled at the mouth of the River Tay. Known for its picturesque harbour, the town is an ideal destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Handy access to the Fife Coastal Path, Tentsmuir Forest and National Nature Reserve are among its most notable attractions, offering miles of trails through lush woodlands, dunes and sandy beaches. The bustling city of Dundee (7 miles) offers attractions such as the V&A Museum and RRS Discovery and medieval Broughty Ferry Castle (9 miles), whilst the world-famous St Andrews ‘Home of Golf’ (11 miles) and the much-loved East Neuk (20 miles) are easily accessible on the Fife side of the estuary.
After a busy day out exploring, it’s time to step inside this lovely detached, stone-built cottage perched on the banks of the River Tay, with an enclosed patio affording spectacular waterside views. You are immediately welcomed into the light and bright open-plan living area where you can relax on the comfortable sofa and enjoy the gorgeous views across the River. The well-equipped kitchen is the perfect place to cook up a storm before enjoying a leisurely meal with friends and family in the comfortable dining area with its picture window overlooking the river. On those cooler nights, curl up in front of the roaring wood burner to relax and sink into the cosy surroundings. Completing this floor, you’ll find the pretty twin bedroom with views across the river to the north and to the west, followed by the shower room with a separate shower cubicle, WC and washer/dryer. Heading up the stairs, you are met with the master king-size bedroom with its Juliet balcony giving fantastic views over the river towards Dundee and Broughty Ferry. Completing this charming contemporary cottage is the en-suite bathroom with WC and a shower over the bath, where you can soak in a long, hot, indulgent bath after the day’s adventures.
If it’s al fresco dining and star gazing you’re after, venture outside to the enclosed patios' seating area for a scenic dinner experience – and even a possible glimpse of the breathtaking Northern Lights! Alternatively, cross the lane to the Kingdom Cycle Route which runs for over 100 miles between the Forth and Tay bridges through beautiful scenery and nature reserves. Closer to home, hop down to the beach and try catching some sea bass in the Tay! There is plenty of off-road parking available.
