Suil Na Mara is a well-received lodge nestled in a beautiful, peaceful location, ideal for exploring the Northern Highlands. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the well-equipped nature of the property, and the cosy atmosphere. While some guests mention areas for improvement, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
The lodge is generally praised for its cleanliness, with several guests noting it as spotless. However, a few guests mentioned specific instances of grubbiness and sticky surfaces, slightly lowering the score.
The location is highly valued for its beauty and tranquillity, with guests loving the proximity to Loch Ewe and the natural surroundings. Some disappointment was expressed regarding the lack of sea views due to overgrown vegetation.
Comfort levels are mixed; while the lodge is described as cosy and pleasant, several guests found the beds uncomfortable and the mattresses in need of replacement, affecting the score.
Facilities are adequate with a well-stocked kitchen and good heating, but guests noted a lack of Wi-Fi, poor TV reception, and some maintenance issues like weak shower pressure and overgrown gardens.
There is insufficient information regarding thoughtfulness, such as gifts or special touches provided by the host, so a score cannot be accurately given.
This spacious detached, wooden lodge is superbly situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on a small development of 10 similar properties, in the pretty village of Aultbea in the Western Highlands of Scotland.
Very well equipped and close to Loch Ewe, this Aultbea cottage is ideal for a family or a group of friends looking to embrace the great outdoors during the day, and enjoy the local hospitality available on the doorstep in the evening. Set entirely over the ground floor, this cottage in Aultbea offers two comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom and a neat kitchen, plus the spacious sitting room with dining area provides a great place to relax and gather together. On warmer evenings you can slide open the patio doors and step out onto the balcony for an early evening drink. The village of Aultbea has good local services including a well stocked general store and limited cafe / dining options within walking distance. The larger village of Gairloch is twelve miles to the south, and here you can take a boat trip to spot the whales that call on this beautiful area of Scotland, or why not play a game of golf on the 9 hole course whilst gazing across the sea to the Inner Hebrides? This lovely lodge is also lucky enough to be ideally located for exploring the North Coast 500, a tourist route around the north of Scotland for taking in the fantastic sights on offer. This Aultbea cottage offers an ideal retreat to complement your holiday in the beautiful West Highlands. EPC Rating: Band F

Very good heating for variable weather. All the things you need for a relaxing holiday home. Only slight niggle with the duvets which for sone reason always slid off over night ! Beautiful area with stunning scenery . We would definitely stay there again

We were able to get out most days & the one day it rained, we were able to sit in comfort, with everything we needed while we waited for the weather to clear. We encountered a small group of red deer as we arrived, which was lovely. We travelled to Mellon Udrigle beach which must be one of the most beautiful in the world. We found that the chalet was situated in stunning area,& a very convenient place for exploring.
