Snaptrip says

Hilltop is a well-equipped cottage in a beautiful, remote Scottish location, offering peace and stunning scenery. Guests appreciate the modern interior, warm atmosphere, and the proximity to beaches and walks. While some guests encountered issues with cleanliness and maintenance, others had a stress-free stay, enjoying the local wildlife and the helpfulness of the owner.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness received mixed reviews. Some guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, while others reported it as unclean upon arrival. Issues such as a smell from the drains and leftover perishable food were mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to stunning beaches and walks. Despite some comments about nearby scrap and abandoned equipment, the scenic delight of the Northern Highlands & Cairngorms National Park overshadows these concerns.

Comfort levels are generally high, with guests enjoying the warm, well-furnished interiors and modern amenities. However, some guests mentioned issues with mattresses and a lack of homely touches, suggesting that while the cottage is comfortable, there is room for improvement.

Facilities are modern and generally appreciated, especially the kitchen and laundry appliances. However, maintenance issues such as non-working lights, a temperamental boiler, and a broken dishwasher were noted. The lack of Wi-Fi was both a positive and a negative, depending on guest preferences.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While some guests mentioned the owner's helpfulness during a car problem, there were no consistent mentions of welcome gifts or additional thoughtful touches that could be evaluated.

All beautifully clean and almost everything you need for a quiet week away. Lacks any personal touch such as pictures etc but other than this, it’s great. The dishwasher was out of use

It was clean, comfortable and fairly well equipped, but there were just a few minor points that could have made our stay perfect. Firstly the dishwasher was out of order. Secondly the shower head leaked badly affecting the water pressure and making it impossible to direct water to a particular angle, for example if you were trying to have a shower without washing your hair. Also some towel rails in the bathroom would have been useful to get the towels dry - we just had to drape them all around the bath. Hooks on the back of the bathroom and bedroom doors would also have been useful. However, the main thing was the mattress on the double bed. It was very soft causing you to sink into the middle of it and feel the springs, very uncomfortable and offering little support for your back. Other small details are that it would have been nice to have had a bedside lamp on both sides of the bed and for each single bed. The walls were very bare with only one picture in the sitting room in the entire cottage. A few more pictures and perhaps the odd ornament and a rug for the sitting room would have made it feel more snug and homely. Despite these fairly minor details Hilltop was a lovely cottage and we had a wonderful week there and would certainly consider returning in the future.

We were surrounded by an array of lovely animals and the scenery was fantastic with fabulous beaches nearby. It was all certainly worth the long journey it took to get there.
