About this property

Situated on the shores of the Morar Estuary, this charming property provides its guests with modern and comfortable accommodation in a fantastic and scenic location. Sat in the perfect location, Westhaven is within walking distance of a lovely sandy beach and the gateway to the Isle of Skye, Small Isles and Knoydart. Offering plenty of space, this cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends wanting to escape to the Scottish Highlands and explore its dramatic coast and countryside. The living accommodation of the property consists of a large, fully appointed kitchen with dining area, a handy utility room and WC, as well as a cosy sitting room with comfortable sofas and a warming multi-fuel stove. The sitting room also has the added bonus of large glass patio doors that not only illuminate the room nicely, but offer spectacular views over the nearby estuary. The doors lead out onto a furnished patio, a lovely spot for sitting out on a warm evening and admiring the views. There are four pleasing bedrooms in the property, all furnished to a high standard and offering more beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. They consist of two king-size bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a bunk bedroom. There is also a large family bathroom with bath and spacious walk-in shower. Outside, the property is surrounded by a large, enclosed garden that reaches down to the edge of the estuary, with both lawn and decking areas, as well as a small pond. The village of Morar is just a short walk away and has two eateries; the Morar Hotel, and a Thai takeaway, both of which serve a selection of delicious dishes. The village boasts the spectacular beachscape known as the 'silver sands of Morar', a collection of white sandy beaches with azure waters. Nearby is the town of Mallaig, a popular fishing village with a number of shops and places to eat, or further afield is the Scottish Highland town of Fort William, the gateway to the Glen Nevis Valley. Westhaven is the ideal property for a family or group of friends looking to discover the wonderful Scottish Highlands.

The famous 'Road to the Isles' comes to an end in Mallaig, a bustling and thriving fishing village, popular with visitors who wish to soak up the atmosphere of a working fishing port, whilst enjoying the full range of shops and restaurants that it has to offer. Mallaig is a great gateway to the Isle of Skye with a ferry running across the Minch throughout the year. Mallaig is also the final stop for the famous Jacobite steam train, as featured in the Harry Potter movies, which follows the road to the Isles from Fort William to Mallaig and back again, a picturesque journey passing through some of the best scenery in Scotland.

The location is excellent, very well provided kitchen and luxurious bedding and towels. There is so much to do in the area - kayaking, walking, golf and the Small Isles. So good we have already booked for next year, which will be our fourth!

Very lovely accommodation with wonderful amenities throughout. The owners are to be congratulated for their imaginative provisions for a family vacation. They were very helpful pre-arrival and made sure our holiday was enjoyable. We can give the highest recommendation for this adorable venue.

Very comfortable, clean and spacious for the six adults who were staying. It was lovely to be able to use the wood burning stove and the wood and coal was provided. The house had easy access to some wonderful beaches and a great location for discovering the wider area and for getting ferries to the islands. We visited Eigg and Skye. The view from the living window was amazing.
