Guests say

Cooinda Cottage is praised for its excellent location, cleanliness, and peaceful environment. Guests enjoy the proximity to beaches, wildlife sightings, and the welcoming hosts. The garden and views are appreciated, although some guests suggest improvements in comfort, particularly the beds.

The majority of reviews highlight the cottage's cleanliness, with guests describing it as 'spotlessly clean' and 'very clean'. However, a few negative comments about dust and grease slightly affect the score.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, proximity to beaches, and wildlife. It's considered a great base for exploring the area, with easy access to Mallaig and ferries. The peacefulness and natural surroundings contribute to a high score.

While the cottage is often described as comfortable and well-equipped, there are repeated complaints about the beds and mattresses, which suggest a need for improvement in this area.

Facilities are generally good, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and easy access to local attractions. However, there are comments about the need for better maintenance, such as the tumble dryer venting and the lack of a freezer, which impacts the score.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While a welcome hamper is mentioned, it is not a consistent theme across the reviews, and it is not possible to guarantee such amenities for future guests.

About this property

Mallaig 3 miles. A spacious bright, detached cottage situated next door to the owner's home in the pretty Highland village of Morar, just three miles from the busy fishing village of Mallaig, on the stunning west coast of Scotland. Just a stone’s throw from the loch and surrounded by mountains, this welcoming, single-storey Morar cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends who wish to enjoy the Highlands of Scotland and spend time together in the great outdoors. There are two bedrooms in this cottage in Morar and a sociable and comfortable open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, which has French doors that lead out onto a private patio area. From the rear of this Highland cottage there are lovely mountain views and just a two minute walk away are the banks of Loch Morar, which claims to have its very own monster called Morag! Morar is famous for its beautiful white sandy beach, an idyllic place for a quiet picnic and paddle. The village of Morar has its own hotel and just three miles away is the village of Mallaig, which provides easy access across the sea to the wonderful Isle of Skye. The area is rich in pretty walks and wildlife, but if it’s history you seek then travel the famous Road to the Isles to Glenfinnan, where a great monument commemorates Bonnie Prince Charlie's last uprising, an iconic statue and a romantic tale. A superb area and an excellent holiday in this Morar cottage awaits. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 911755, together they sleep 9. EPC Rating: Band C

The bustling fishing village of Mallaig offers shops and restaurants, and is an excellent gateway to the Isle of Skye. The village is also the last stop for the famous Jacobite steam train, as featured in the Harry Potter movies, and the town of Fort William is within driving distance.

Loch Morar is about 200 m walk and is huge, pretty river close by as well, 2 Miles from Mallaig ,ferry's to the small isles and to Skye operate from here. Mallaig has an awesome artisan bakery on the old pier which will become addictive once visited .Will definitely be coming back for another visit.Highly recommended.

There was a lovely tray of goodies which we thoroughly enjoyed (especially the Tunnocks Tea Cakes) and everything we needed was there. The shower has great pressure and the towels were lovely, soft and fluffy. All in all a very comfortable stay. Thank you!
