Guests generally appreciate Otter Lodge for its tranquil setting, modern amenities, and spaciousness. The lodge's location in the Northern Highlands offers a peaceful retreat with plenty of nearby activities. While some minor maintenance issues and facility shortcomings are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests planning to return.
The lodge is frequently described as clean and well-maintained. A few guests mentioned minor cleanliness issues, such as dirt in the shower and outside area, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquility, with easy access to local amenities and activities. The natural surroundings and wildlife are a highlight for many visitors.
The lodge is generally found to be comfortable, with spacious rooms and a wood-fired stove. However, some guests noted issues with the heating system and a lack of mirrors and towel hooks, which slightly impacted the comfort level.
While the lodge is well-equipped, there are several comments about missing or inadequate facilities, such as bike storage, oven issues, and insufficient kitchenware for the maximum number of guests. WiFi connectivity also appears to be a common concern.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Admittedly we couldnât find the lodges at first as the sign isnât lit up at night but once we knew how to find it, driving around locally was very easy. The property is spacious, modern and clean. The open plan living downstairs is ideal for families. WiFi was patchy but this was clearly stated in the welcome pack. The apps (Netflix for example) weren't working on the TV, again not a dealbreaker but with little children it helps if you use these. 17min drive to Aviemore, 30min drive to Cairngorm mountain.

The location is lovely, very secluded but yet only a short drive to Aviemore. The accommodation is well equipped and clean and spacious. There is a bike wash off facility and also bike lock up facilities at the lodge which was a great additional feature. Cots and high chairs were available for use too which was handy not having to take our own. Itâs also very quiet and peaceful location. The only downside is the WiFi is shared with the other lodges (I dont remember this being stated on the listing) so you canât stream on the tv - we like to YouTube areas we are interested in visiting before we go, so may not be an issue to others. Also otter lodge is furthest away from the car park, so a small inconvenience dragging your stuff from the car to the lodge. We would definitely stay here again.
