Tigh a Phailean is a well-received cottage, praised for its stunning location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests have enjoyed the tranquil setting, beautiful views, and local wildlife. The cottage's cosy atmosphere and thoughtful touches by the owners have contributed to many memorable stays. While most reviews are positive, there is a single negative experience that highlights issues with midges, location, and an unpleasant post-stay charge.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with several guests specifically mentioning its spotless condition. The high level of cleanliness has contributed positively to the overall guest experience.
The location is highly praised for its peace, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions. However, one review mentioned road noise and another discussed the inconvenience of the distance to shops, slightly impacting the perfect score.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, cosy, and well-equipped, with comfortable beds and a warm atmosphere. One negative review mentioned hard beds and a smoky smell, which slightly lowers the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and good amenities. However, some guests noted the lack of a dishwasher, dull knives, and poor Wi-Fi, indicating room for improvement.
Many guests appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as fresh flowers and fireplaces ready to light. While these gestures are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

A perfect spot to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary. We couldn't have wished for better.Thank you Carol & Andy.

We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The owners ( Carol and Andy) couldnât have been more friendly and helpful. We were delighted to find out that the cottage was previously owned by Carolâs Great Grandmother. We enjoyed great days out to Skye, Plockton and a unique trip on the Skye-Glenelg ferry ( a âmustâ for anyone visiting the area). The community run coffee shop in Glenelg was also a delight. We have no hesitation in recommending this gorgeous cottage and would love to come back.

"lochside" really means beside a tidal seaweed patch that isn't nice to look at, not useful for boats, and uninhabitable with midges in summer, having driven the lengths of scotland I've never seen midges like it at this location. Location is on the other side of the loch so its an age to the shop in reality on bad roads, one takeaway that was always closed while we were there. Cabin has open fire so stinks of smoke, no attempts to clean by owners, who will expect you to clean for them, or charge your card without permission to do their job. Beds are tiny and hard. Decor is 70s esq, nice thick carpets to absorb the musky smell of the fire."award winning" we all found amusing on arrival. Kids hated it as TV wouldnt work and Wifi was awful. (I know I Know but kids like wifi, reality) Trades on location but its just another rental on a row of rentals. A typical skyes property tbh should know that by now. Avoid in future. Was charged hundreds of £s without consent for a wonky picture, a ring on a coaster (I'm not making this up) and crums on a floor. Apparently cleaners in this area are not very efficient. Avoid like the plague, Scotland has so many cheaper nicer places.
