Guests say

The Hideout in Portree is praised for its homely feel, well-maintained condition, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the welcome snacks and the property's suitability for families and pets. While some minor issues are noted, such as a missing shower handle and a lack of garden enclosure, the overall sentiment is positive with recommendations for future stays.

Guests generally find The Hideout clean and comfortable. One review mentions a dusty living room floor, but this seems to be an isolated comment rather than a recurring theme.

The location is highly praised for being close to Portree town centre, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and main roads around the island.

The property is described as spacious and homely, with a wood burner for added comfort. However, one guest found a sofa uncomfortable due to lack of cushion support.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and a welcome hamper. Some issues with a missing mirror, a broken shower handle, and a FreeSat box are noted, indicating room for improvement in maintenance.

The provision of welcome snacks and a hamper is mentioned positively, reflecting the property's thoughtfulness towards guests. However, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

With plenty of walking routes, the town is within reach of fantastic Isle of Skye attractions, such as Trotternish Ridge for dramatic rock formations and the crystal clear waters of the Fairy Pools for tranquil swimming. Sligachan is to the south of Mill Park and an ideal location for those seeking the great outdoors at the Sligachan Waterfalls and Red Cullen viewpoint, whilst the small settlement offers a bar & grill to fuel your day. Head north for Staffin to try delicious seafood at the Skye Seafood Market, discover ancient fossils at the Staffin Ecomuseum and walk the spectacular path to Staffin Harbour & An Corran Beach. Dunvegan is a popular location to the west of Isle of Skye, surrounded by incredible coast and woodlands, where Dunvegan Castle & Gardens is a must-see, as well as the Giant Angus Macaskill Museum to learn about the tallest Scotsman ever to have lived, and the tallest recorded true giant. This was a wonderful place to stay!

We are looking forward to revisiting next year. The Hideaway was conveniently situated a short walk from Portree but quiet and very comfortable. There were one or two niggles, the living room needed a clean, the floor was dusty and had not been swept. A teapot would have been nice with more glasses and a kitchen jug. We had problems with the FreeSat box but managed to get the TV working. These are not big issues but I thought that you would like to know.
