Snaptrip says

Guests consistently praise The Old Mill for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning location. The property is described as well-equipped, spacious, and offering a peaceful setting with picturesque views. The presence of a stream, wildlife, and local amenities contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The owner's hospitality and occasional welcome gifts are noted, adding a personal touch to the experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers frequently mention the cleanliness of the cottage, describing it as immaculate and well-maintained. The absence of any negative comments on cleanliness supports a high score in this category.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with proximity to local shops and attractions. The scenic views and peaceful surroundings contribute to the positive feedback, although one mention of the distance to Portree for provisions suggests a slight deduction.

Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests finding the cottage cosy and welcoming. The presence of a log burner and the property's ability to be a 'home away from home' indicate a high level of comfort.

Facilities are generally regarded as excellent, with the property being well-equipped and tastefully decorated. However, one mention of the oven and grill not working indicates a minor issue, leading to a slightly reduced score.

The thoughtfulness of the owner is evident through mentions of a welcome pack and home-baked biscuits. While these gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, although delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A charming, detached converted old mill in a delightful riverside location situated in Staffin, a friendly crofting community on the magical Isle of Skye. This cottage would have been a busy place many years ago and an exposed stone wall in the kitchen and other character features are a pleasant reminder of its past history. This bright and spacious cottage is ideal for a family, group of friends, or a couple who will enjoy exploring the fabulous Isle of Skye and all that it has to offer. There are two lovely bedrooms on the first floor with both benefiting from having en-suite shower rooms, as well as big windows, which allow full appreciation of the stunning mountain views. The ground floor has a most comfortable sitting room with a cosy woodburning stove and doors leading out to the rear garden, plus you can enjoy meals together at the end of a busy day in the well-equipped kitchen/diner. At the rear is a private garden where guests can soak up the lovely open views and perhaps enjoy a morning coffee whilst listening to the sound of the river passing by. The village of Staffin has good local facilities, plus just a short walk away is the Columba Community Centre and Café, where you can enjoy some lovely home baking. Also, close by is Staffin Beach, perfect for paddling and a picnic. Skye itself is a big island with lots to see and do and the capital town Portree, with its pretty harbour, is just 17 miles south. For walkers the Quiraing mountain range is on the doorstep and offers spectacular walks with guaranteed sightings of rare birds and wildlife, and you might even see eagles overhead! The beautiful island of Skye will not disappoint and this fabulous cottage will ensure a wonderful holiday for all.

The crofting village of Staffin on the Isle of Skye overlooks Staffin Bay and Staffin Island. The village offers a sandy beach, a shop and restaurant, plus the town of Portree, the largest on Skye, is 17 miles down the coast.

....just perfect! You may want to give renters a heads up about stocking up on food and snacks in advance, as the area is fair remote. Other than that, we loved it!

The house is very cozy and welcoming, well equipped with everything you would need. Lovely clean rooms and large fully equipped kitchen and comfy, peaceful living room. We would definitely stay here again when we are back on Skye.
