Set in the delightful village of Roslin, 7.5 miles from Edinburgh, it is just 350m from the stunning, 15th-century Rosslyn Chapel, which featured in Dan Brown’s novel the Da Vinci Code and the famous 2006 film. Sleeping four guests, and also welcoming two contented canines, the two-bedroom holiday home makes a great base from which to explore the area and walk in the magnificent Pentland Hills.

Wander into the two-storey cottage and from the hall head on into the immaculate, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its gorgeous, revealed stone wall. Choose your evening’s viewing on the Smart TV before heading over to the kitchen area to prepare a feast with the fresh, local foods you have bought. Dine together at the table then switch on the gas fire and simply unwind. Find you also have a utility room and shower room at ground-floor level.

One of your bedrooms is downstairs too. This is an inviting twin room, which can also be arranged as a super-king if discussed in advance. This room benefits from its own TV and has doors that can be opened up on to the garden on warm days.

Make your way up to the first floor to find a comfortable, king-size room that also has its own TV. This room has more exposed stonework, as well as characterful, sloped ceilings. There is also a family bathroom up here.

Sit out at the front of the cottage in the morning, with a cup of cup of tea, to watch the world go by. Light the BBQ to the rear of the property on warm summer evenings and have dinner together in the garden out here.
