Kilt Room Cottage is generally praised for its cleanliness, comfortable amenities, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the friendly owners and the property's proximity to local attractions. While some guests find the property dog-friendly, others suggest improvements for pet accommodation. The cottage is well-equipped, though there are mixed feelings about the size and temperature control.
Most guests find the cottage spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a high cleanliness score. However, a few guests have reported issues with cleanliness, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local sights, making it an excellent base for exploring. The peaceful rural setting is a recurring positive aspect in the reviews.
The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a few noting the beds could be improved. The comfort of the living space is generally well-regarded, though some guests mention issues with temperature control.
Facilities are considered well-equipped and adequate by most guests. However, some reviews suggest the need for maintenance, particularly regarding the heating system and outdoor fencing for pets, which affects the score.
While some guests mention receiving a welcome of shortbread and a brewing kit, as these gifts are not consistently referenced across the reviews, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
Aberlour 1.2 miles. In a quiet and pretty residential location on the outskirts of Aberlour, this extremely well-presented semi-detached cottage makes a fabulous holiday retreat. Next door to the owner's home and yet totally private and self-contained, this cottage would be ideal for a couple or small group of friends who want to enjoy this wonderful area together. Fresh and tastefully presented the main living area is a perfect place to relax and enjoy home-cooked meals at the end of a busy day and the comfortable bedroom and contemporary shower room are immaculate. The large leather settee in the sitting area. From the sitting room doors open out onto a patio area complete with picnic bench and guests can certainly enjoy some outside dining on the warmer days. Aberlour itself is a pretty village with a broad High Street providing a great selection of shops and cafes and the local fish and chip shop comes highly recommended! Fishing is available, as you would expect, on the River Spey and permits are available locally. For golfers there are several top quality courses within an easy drive and nearby Dufftown has a challenging hilly 18 hole course. For cyclists the Moray Monster Trails provide 18 miles of single track mountain bike routes for all levels, and for walkers there is of course the wonderful Speyside Way. Wildlife is easy to spot in this unspoilt area of Scotland with around 60 species of birds along with wild cats, pine martens and much much more. You can always just pop in your car and drive through the pretty quiet roads, stopping at the many craft cafes and distilleries along the way. A truly magical location and a cosy and smart holiday home to enjoy.

Very tranquil setting. Would definitely book again and hope to be able to stay when visiting family this Christmas period.

The owners were next door, although I never saw them during the week. Wifi was okay (about 5MB download). There is a smart meter to remind you how much electricity you are using. Great area for walking, especially the Speyside Way, and the locals very friendly. The property is, apparently, up for sale.
