Guests say

Ralston Bothy is consistently praised for its cleanliness, beautiful and peaceful location, and cosy comfort. Guests enjoy the private garden, hot tub, and thoughtful touches like a welcome basket. While some minor suggestions for improvements are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a sought-after retreat.

Guests frequently commend the cottage for its immaculate condition, noting it as spotless and very clean. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the comfort and enjoyment of their stays.

The location is celebrated for its beauty and tranquillity, with easy access to local walks and nature. The private setting and proximity to attractions like Dundee and the Angus Glens are appreciated, although some guests suggest better signage for finding the property.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a log burner and hot tub adding to the relaxation. However, a few guests mention a desire for better seating support and a larger TV, which slightly impacts the comfort score.

Facilities like the well-equipped kitchen, hot tub, and garden are highlights. Some guests suggest the addition of a freezer compartment and a hairdryer, and improvements to the TV size, which indicates room for enhancement in facilities and maintenance.

The thoughtful gestures, such as welcome baskets with bread, cheese, and milk, are warmly received, although it is politely noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

At day end what could be better than a lovely hot rain shower in the large spacious bathroom before retiring to spend a comfortable night in the sumptuous bothy double bed as you reflect on the day’s memories. The Bothy is surrounded by interesting, and easily accessible, disused railway lines (first railway in the North of Scotland 1831-1863) and woodland walks which are managed by the Newtyle Path Network or challenge yourselves as you venture to the top of Kinpurnie Hill and its lookout tower. From here you can witness the most spectacular views of the Valley of Strathmore with the distant Cairngorms in the background. If you prefer to cycle, the Bothy provides storage for bikes. If you don’t have a bike, but you would quite like the opportunity to try a local cycle route, you can hire electric bikes from The Cycle Hub in the nearby town of Coupar Angus. There are plenty of cycle friendly roads directly from the Bothy and a number of popular cycle routes further afield which cater for all abilities. It is a great way to see the beautiful scenery and wildlife as you travel along the various routes.
