Situated in the grounds of Balgersho House, this delightful cottage is surrounded by magnificent scenery and wildlife. Originally built in 1946 for the estate gardener, the cottage has been thoughtfully furnished for guests’ comfort and ease. The bright, cosy living room enjoys a wood-burning stove, ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine in front of whilst discussing the next day’s adventure. Explore the Victorian walled garden which the owners have now fully restored. Inside the 2-acre plot you will find a tennis court (for shared use), a summerhouse, and an orchard and kitchen garden complete with vegetable beds and climbing roses. The high stone walls shelter all sorts of wild animals with woodpeckers and red squirrels frequently visiting the bird tables. All the roads around Balgersho Garden Cottage are designated cycling friendly routes, and the Cateran Trail starts in Blairgowrie, a 103km circular fully waymarked walk. The trail takes it’s name from the feared cattle thieves who raided the lands of Strathardle, Glenshee and Glen Isla. There is even a rumour that a tunnel runs from the house to the abbey at Coupar Angus.

Perthshire has an excellent range of outdoor pursuits to suit all tastes and ages. Trout fishing is available on the River Tay, River Isla and many local lochs. For relaxing walks through the countryside and more strenuous hill walking and mountain climbing, the Perthshire and Angus hills are within easy reach, as well as skiing at Glenshee in the winter months. Championship golf courses are close by at Rosemount and Blairgowrie, with further courses at Murrayshall and Alyth. Visit distilleries, Scone Palace, beautiful gardens and the historic city of Perth, 12 miles, with a theatre, concert hall and a great variety of shops, restaurants and cafes.
