Guests say

Harmony Cottage in Melrose is praised for its excellent location, historical charm, and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the warmth of the cottage. The proximity to shops, restaurants, and scenic walks, along with views of the Abbey, add to its appeal. While some find the decor and furniture basic, the cottage's character and the convenience of its location are consistently highlighted as positives.

The majority of guests report the cottage as clean and spotless, with only a few mentioning issues such as mould in the shower and the need for a deeper clean in certain areas. Overall, the cleanliness is well-regarded.

The location is highly praised for its centrality in Melrose, proximity to shops, restaurants, and historical sites like Melrose Abbey. The convenience for public transport and scenic walks is also appreciated.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, although some reviews mention the living room furniture and lighting could be improved for comfort. The historical nature of the cottage may contribute to certain limitations in this area.

Facilities such as the well-equipped kitchen and heating are commended, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues like loose toilet seats, dripping taps, and inadequate lighting. Some guests also suggest the need for better shower facilities and Wi-Fi improvements.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, this score cannot be accurately determined.

It was important for me to have dog friendly accommodation and my dog settled in very well, great walks round and about. Everywhere is dog friendly and I ate at a few of the hotels, and would particularly like to recommend the George and Abbotsford Hotel who have a very welcoming team. It was nice to see the old features retained in the cottage, it was comfortable and warm. The central heating was very responsive. The only thing I would comment on are the single beds in both rooms, I personally found them narrow but then I am accustomed to a double. If I am every staying in the area I would definitely book this property again.

I feel it should be pointed out that the stairs might be difficult for some people particularly the elderly and those people with mobility issues.Apart from these issues the cottage was overall good
