Guests say

Harmony House in Melrose is praised for its beautiful gardens, stunning views, and spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the property's character, cleanliness, and the peaceful environment it offers. While some guests mention issues with bed sizes and bathroom facilities, the house's charm and location contribute to a generally enjoyable stay.

Reviews consistently mention that the property is clean and tidy, with guests expressing delight at the cleanliness upon arrival. The property's upkeep in terms of hygiene appears to be of a high standard.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Melrose and the surrounding countryside, offering both convenience and a sense of seclusion. The views of the Eildons and Melrose Abbey add to the appeal, making the location exceptional.

The house is generally found to be comfortable with quality furniture and a well-stocked kitchen. However, guests have noted that the beds, particularly the doubles, are small and uncomfortable for taller individuals, affecting the overall comfort level.

Facilities such as the kitchen and communal spaces are well-received, but there are recurring comments about the need for better bathroom facilities and more showers. Issues with the oven and dishwasher have been noted, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.

While guests have mentioned welcome gifts during their stay, such as decorated Christmas trees and shortbread, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness as a standard offering. Therefore, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed.

One suggestion would be a reactive light at the back door would help with access to the key safe and safety in the courtyard. Check in of 5pm was quite late to get in and organised and prepare a meal for 15. Check out at 9.30 is also early to prepare breakfast and tidy up for 15 folk, strip beds and wash everything up. We had a fantastic time however, great location and have already recommended to friends.

We do our own cooking so the revamp of the kitchen was much appreciated (problem with one oven but understand this is to be repaired). We are particularly fond of sitting in the very large garden but felt it could do with a tidy-up. There are only 3 gardeners(if I lived closer I would happily volunteer to help). I will be making a booking for next year

The house is superb with quality furniture, decoration and fittings. The kitchen and dining room are very well equipped with everything you could need. The only problem we had is that there are no toilets on the ground floor which made it a bit tricky for anyone who is elderly or infirm. We all managed though but just a wee warning to anyone else planning a stay there. The grounds are beautiful with a lovely private garden which can be used when the rest of the gardens are open to the public.
