The property is well-equipped, providing a cosy and homely atmosphere. The rural setting is perfect for walks and wildlife, with the town of Newcastleton and its amenities a short drive away. The owners are commended for their communication and the property's maintenance, although a few guests noted areas needing attention.

Reviewers frequently mention the spotlessness of the cottage, with positive remarks about the cleanliness throughout. One review specifically thanks the cleaner for an excellent job, reinforcing the high standards maintained at the property.

The location is highly appreciated for its peace and quiet, with guests enjoying the surrounding wildlife and walks. Its proximity to Hermitage Castle and the town of Newcastleton adds to its appeal, although the remote nature means amenities are a drive away.

Comfort is a strong point, with guests highlighting the comfiest beds and cosy environment. The warm and comfortable setting is particularly appreciated after outdoor activities. The presence of fluffy towels and snuggly duvets adds to the overall comfort.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the hot tub and Wi-Fi. However, some guests reported issues with the shower basin flooding and the hot tub needing maintenance. These isolated incidents suggest that while facilities are excellent, there is room for improvement.

While many reviews express gratitude for the owners' attentiveness and the property's amenities, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

Plenty of outside space for everyone and the dogs to enjoy. The only negative is the stairs to the two bedrooms are rather steep and narrow. We went for a long weekend which was just right for me as you are a drive away from local amenities. Don’t forget mosquitoe candles and spray as they are everywhere this time of year!!!
