The light and airy open-plan living space sets the tone for the rest of the property with an inviting sitting area forming the focal point of the room. The seating is arranged to maximise the beautiful views from the cottage outside and a woodburning stove creates an attractive centrepiece to the space, perfect for curling up and warming up after a day of adventures. The extensive fully-fitted kitchen is the ideal place for cooking up a storm and while the chef prepares a sumptuous meal you can keep them company at the breakfast bar. Step out of the kitchen into the welcoming dining area which is again positioned to make the most of the stunning views out of the window. The beauty of the accommodation being all on one level means there isn’t far to stagger to bed and both super king-size bedrooms have their own en-suite wet rooms and there is a family bathroom which even has a wall-mounted TV so you needn’t miss your favourite telly while you’re having a soak! Ceann an Loch cottage is the perfect base for exploring the delights of the Isle of Lewis and there are activities to suit everyone’s age, budget and taste. Stornoway is also only a short distance by car and is a great base from which to explore neighbouring islands and is the gateway to discovering even more of the wonders of the Outer Hebrides. For a holiday to remember, Ceann an Loch Cottage ticks all the boxes. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.
Balallan meaning Allan's Town, is a crofting township on Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Balallan is within the parish of Lochs. The township is the longest village, being four miles in Lewis, and also in northern Scotland. Straggled along the head of a long sea loch between Arivruach and Laxay, it formed due to a mixture of crofting along the loch shore and fishing. It sits at the head of Loch Erisort. Whether you are visiting the island to see the varied wildlife, the numerous historic sites, or just to get away from it all, you will never be far from scenic surroundings. Beautiful, remote and peaceful, the views are right on your doorstep. Also known as the Outer Hebrides, the Western Isles form a 130 miles arc running from north to south off the north-western coast of Scotland. Taken from north to south they include Lewis, North and South Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist and Barra.

With amazing views over the loch the cottage is superbly situated for trips all around the island. The cottage itself is wonderful and is of a very high standard with everything you would need to make this a home from home. Thank you to Donnie and Julie for the lovely welcome pack and the greeting.

From entering the cottage you are immediately wrapped up in the warmth and the very high standards throughout. You are drawn to the 2 welcome hampers (one being in the fridge) and then are amazed at the quality throughout. The cottage has underfloor heating (which we were grateful for) as well as being superbly stocked with everything you might need. The ice machine was a bonus for our Gs and Ts! The beds are very comfortable and all the bathrooms furnished to a very high standard. The owner Julie, is very attentive as responds immediately to any queries you may have. The views are stunning and although the weather was inclement during our stay just watching the changing colours on the landscape from the comfort of the lounge made it much more bearable. I guarantee that if you stay here you will not be sorry!!
