Eriskay 3.1 miles. Boasting wonderful views over the beach and beyond, this superb holiday cottage is located near Eriskay on South Uist. It might look small from the outside but Beachcombers is something of a tardis and offers extensive and elegant accommodation, making it ideal for families and couples. The impressive views are the first thing that strikes the visitor with floor to ceiling windows to two sides of the open-plan sitting area, giving guests the opportunity to witness at first-hand the ever-changing skies. Whether you are relaxing in the sitting room around the woodburning stove in the evening or sitting down to eat a delicious breakfast at the elegant dining table, the views are with you all the way. Step into the fabulous kitchen where you will find everything you could possibly need to cook a hearty meal for the family. When bedtime calls, the stylish king-size bedroom offers a delightful sanctuary for you to rest your head after a tiring day of holiday adventures. The remaining bedrooms are equally as welcoming with both rooms boasting views of the surrounding land and sea scape. Whilst two of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, a good-sized family bathroom completes the property. Whatever the season, spending time outside is a must here and the decking area has been well-positioned to make the most of the setting with stunning views of the islands of Eriskay, Barra and beyond to the mountains of Rum. Tempting as it is to get settled in and soak up the views from the cottage, they are even better close up so exploring the island is a must. A short walk from the cottage is the beautiful Cockle Beach with other superb beaches such as Glendale and Eriskay also close by. From the island you can take a short ferry trip to the neighbouring island of Barra and the town of Lochboisdale is a short but scenic drive and has plenty to offer visitors looking for a trip out. If you enjoy mountain climbing then you’ve come to the right place with the South Uist peaks of Ben Mhor and Hecla a popular destination. Well worth a day out from South Uist is Lochmaddy on North Uist. For a taste of a quieter life with stunning views to boot, Beachcombers has to be the ultimate holiday destination. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale.
The village of Eriskay is found in the centre of the island of Eriskay which is located between South Uist and Barra. It is connected to South Uist by a causeway and is a delightful place to visit. It is known for being the site of ‘Whisky Galore!’ when in 1941 the SS Politician ran aground here carrying 28,000 cases of malt whisky. The wreck was looted by islanders who allegedly hid the whisky all over Eriskay and South Uist. With a population of around 200, it is a picturesque, hilly island. Prince’s Beach is well worth a visit while on Eriskay and is located on the west side of the island. It is thought to be where Bonnie Prince Charlie first set foot on Scottish soil and the Bonnie Prince Charlie trail is popular with visitors to the island. While you are in Eriskay you can stock up at the community shop and there is even a restaurant called Am Politican here where you can stop off and enjoy a delicious bite to eat.

It is so welcoming and the view is to die for. Again we were so lucky and the weather was amazing so we were able to get out and about on the islands but Beachcomber was always an amazing base to end the day. It will always have a special ial place in our hearts

Beachcombers was clean, cosy and very well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything about the property was wonderful. The welcome pack was very thoughtful. We would definitely recommend Beachcombers and would love to come back.
