About this property

Cynwyl Elfed 3 miles. A tastefully-converted farm building, in the grounds of the owner’s B&B, providing cosy accommodation, surrounded by working farmland, in the heart of the rolling Carmarthenshire countryside. Just a short drive from the bustling county town of Carmarthen, the oldest town in Wales, the cottage is a perfect base for romantic breaks for couples, or a getaway for a small family looking to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Set on the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and an open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen overlooking fields and a cosy sitting room with a dining area and TV, where you can sit and plan your day’s adventures over a morning cup of coffee. Outside, you can sit on the private patio and lawned area and enjoy the tranquillity whilst looking out across landscaped gardens, with its resident chickens and guinea fowl and distant rolling fields. The area is surrounded by lovely countryside views and walks across the Carmarthenshire hills, and traditional Welsh towns such as Newcastle Emlyn within 15 miles or Cardigan and the stunning Ceredigion Bay, 22 miles, with its famous dolphins. You are ideally placed to explore the beautiful South Wales beaches, including the stunning harbour seaside town of Tenby, just 30 miles away or perhaps soak up some of the culture of the area and follow Dylan Thomas to his iconic Boathouse home in Laugharne only 15 miles away. There are numerous outdoor activities in the area such as, canoeing, fishing, coasteering or just enjoying the vast stretches of the Wales Coast Path, taking in much of the Pembrokeshire National Park. A perfect retreat for couples and young families to enjoy the abundance of walks, outdoor activities, numerous beaches and stunning local historic towns.

Carmarthen is a busy and thriving Norman market town, situated close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is renowned for its busy market where you will find stalls selling produce from Swansea to Cardigan Bay, cheeses from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, local organic foods, farmhouse salt-bacon, sausages, delicious cockles from the beaches of South Wales and the renowned laver bread. Carmarthen is Wales' oldest town with a history extending back over 2,000 years. Romans inhabited the area and there is evidence of a Celtic church dedicated to St. Teulyddog. The Roman town's layout is preserved in the modern street pattern to the east of St Peter's Church, whereas the evidence of the Norman occupation, the Castle, is situated on a rocky knoll overlooking the River Tywi. Today, the town has a great selection of pubs, restaurants and shops and there are many attractions in the vicinity, such as Dylan Thomas's Boathouse and the National Botanical gardens of Wales.

Adrian met us upon arrival and guided us through the basics of the cottage. There was a lovely welcome cake which we thoroughly enjoyed , we would definitely recommend this cottage and its surroundings to anyone wanting to just get away and relax from every day life. Oh and don’t forget the beautiful dark skies as amiture photographers we spent the few nights that was clear enough taking photos of the milky way. In one work Perfect .
