The rocky headland of the Great Orme is an area of Special Scientific Interest, due to the rare plants and animals found there. Not rare, but unusual, is the flock of goats that live there. Ancient copper mines and hut circles show the historic value of the area and can be reached by Victorian tram or modern cable car as well as by car or on foot. An easy drive along the coast takes you to both Conwy and Caernarfon castles, or to the Isle of Anglesey, whilst a 40 minute drive will take you into the heart of Snowdonia.
