Ceris Lodge boasts stunning views and a superb location, ideal for exploring Anglesey and enjoying the tranquillity of North Wales. Guests appreciate the private parking, balcony, and the welcome gestures. While some guests had a comfortable stay and would return, others reported maintenance issues and concerns with cleanliness that impacted their experience.
Several reviews mention a musty smell, dampness, and a lack of thorough cleaning, with specific references to unpleasant odours and unemptied bins. However, not all reviews mention cleanliness issues, indicating inconsistency.
The location is frequently praised for its beautiful views of the Menai Strait and convenience for visiting local attractions. The proximity to Anglesey and the town of Bangor is a highlight for many guests.
Guests find the beds large and comfortable, contributing to a good night's sleep. However, reports of dampness, a drafty door, and a broken bed frame suggest that comfort may be compromised in some areas of the property.
While the property is described as well-equipped, there are numerous reports of maintenance issues such as broken toilet seats, taps, and unsafe decking. The central heating instructions were also found to be incorrect, and some facilities were not as expected.
Guests mention receiving a welcome bottle of wine, which is a thoughtful touch, although it should be noted that such gestures are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

One of two bridges connecting Wales to the mainland is located in this charming town, which is situated right on the edge of the Isle of Anglesey. It's a terrific place to stay while on vacation and for touring this stunning island. The well-known Saint Tysilio, who is commemorated in the 15th-century St. Tysilio's Church, lived on Church Island, off the coast of Anglesey, during its long history, which can be learned about in the Menai Bridge Heritage Museum. Menai Bridge itself has a good selection of stores, bars, and eateries. The Pili Palas butterfly palace, which is a favourite among families, as well as the breathtaking Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens are just a couple of the attractions that make this a great place for entertainment. You outdoor enthusiasts may drive to the Snowdonia National Park, which offers fantastic walking and cycling trails as well as opportunities to see some stunning sights. There are several magnificent locations closer to the town, including the well-known towns of Beaumaris and Caernarfon with their imposing castles and a wealth of other things to do.

The issues I initially had with the en-suite shower room door which locked itself and the upstairs toilet bulb were promptly dealt with by the lovely housekeeper - the bulb was replaced and the shower room door was opened although rendered unusable as the lock completely malfunctioned so the door had to be propped open at all times to avoid anyone getting locked in or out. 1. The lower decked area outside is quite simply dangerous, there are large holes in it where it has rotted away with a 2-3 foot drop underneath - it is completely unsafe. 2. The downstairs area of the property where the bedrooms are located is incredibly damp, most plug sockets have got air fresheners in them in what I imagine is an attempt to mask the musty/damp smell which is actually overwhelming, particularly in the en-suite bedroom. I think the humidity levels are likely well above a safe level to sleep in. 3. The bed in the master bedroom is broken on the right hand side - I fear someone may fall through it before long I could go on as there were other minor problems but I risk sounding ridiculous however these issues did spoil our holiday - I have never felt the need to write a bad review of a property before but other potential holiday makers need to be made aware, this property need serious attention and is not in a fit state stay in currently.

When we explored downstairs (the bedrooms) the smell was much stronger. Other reviews have mentioned a damp smell but this was something else on top. I knelt on the bedroom floor to use an extension cable that was under the bed and the carpet stank of urine. That bedroom (the one with the shower ensuite) was impossible to sleep in because the smell was so strong it was nauseating. We contacted the housekeeper and explained that we needed two bedrooms but one of us was having to sleep on the two seater sofa in the living room. She phoned us back to say that she had tried to contact the landlord but was not getting a reply. We then emailed and whatsapped Sykes, who did not reply until we were on the journey home after a week, and even then it was just to say that our 'query' had been passed on to the customer relations team. We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and have never written a bad review or made a complaint. This house has such potential for being a really amazing place to stay, but it smelt like a cowshed, and opening windows and plugging in the diffusers that are all over the house (showing that the landlord was aware of the smell) didnt help at all. I think the smell was a combination of damp, poor drains (the sinks and toilets all gurgle when you flush) and perhaps an animal had been shut into the lowest bedroom? A much needed holiday was completely spoilt and we only stayed because we had made plans with family and friends in Bangor. Please could the owners 1. Remove the smelly carpet and clean the floorboards before replacing with new, so that nobody else has to have a horrible holiday. 2. Provide us with a refund.

Glad to see the loo seat and tap have been repaired from last time. The property is a bit shabby but is made up for in the views over the Straits which we love. Sadly the weather didn't encourage us to sit outside.
