Tryfan Cottage in North Wales & Snowdonia is a well-loved holiday rental, praised for its peaceful and beautiful rural setting, cosy atmosphere, and proximity to local attractions. Guests have enjoyed the welcoming touches, the surrounding wildlife, and the convenience of nearby walks and towns. While some have raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance, the majority reflect a positive experience, with many returning for multiple stays.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-kept, with comfortable bedding and a welcoming atmosphere. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with mustiness, dust, and kitchen cleanliness, which slightly lowers the overall score.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions, including historical sites and natural beauty. The rural setting offers a peaceful retreat with the convenience of being a short drive from town.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a warm environment. Some noted the dining area was a bit tight for larger groups, and taller individuals mentioned the shower height as a minor inconvenience.
The cottage is described as well-equipped and maintained, with a newly renovated bathroom and the addition of a new stove and TV. Some guests noted issues with hot water and the grill, suggesting room for improvement in certain areas.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of Welsh cakes, flowers, and a detailed welcome pack. While these gestures are appreciated, it is noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.
Caernarfon 3 miles.
A charming detached cottage set in quiet countryside in an elevated position above Caernarfon Bay on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. This Caernarfon cottage is set within seven acres of meadows and pasture which you are welcome to explore, with the owner's house nearby. At the end of the sweeping drive is Tryfan Junction railway station, where you can join the train on the narrow gauge railway as it steams through stunning countryside between Caernarfon and Porthmadog. This delightful Caernarfon cottage has two bedrooms, both with sloping ceilings, a cosy sitting room and a fitted kitchen with dining table. There are exposed stone walls and beams throughout, adding character and charm to this 18th century Caernarfon cottage. The surrounding gardens and countryside provide peace and tranquillity, with an abundance of wildlife. The picnic table offers an ideal location to enjoy alfresco dining and mesmerising sunsets. There are miles of walking and cycling tracks around this Caernarfon cottage, and a Slate Trail that starts at the bottom of the drive. Snowdonia Riding Stables is nearby which offers pony trekking and for keen walkers, the mountains of Snowdonia are easily accessible, some even on foot. Caernarfon and the beaches along the Menai Straits are just a 15-minute drive away, or you can jump on a train to Porthmadog with its Blue Flag beaches and harbour and spend an afternoon browsing the shops there. The castles of Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech are all within easy driving distance, as too are the fantastic beaches and coastline of the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. This is a fantastic, tranquil Caernarfon cottage in a great location for a family holiday or romantic getaway at any time of the year.
Caernarfon is one of the most historical towns in the United Kingdom: there are few others who can claim to have been continually inhabited since Stone Age times. Evidence of its history is most evident in the famous Caernarfon Castle, which began its construction in 1283 as a fortress, a seat of government and a home for royalty. The town itself is the site of many events and festivals throughout the year, such as the UK Strong Man Competition, the Caernarfon Festival and meetings of the North Wales Automobile Club. The Welsh Highland Railway offers trips through the region, where you can begin to fully appreciate the splendour of the region and you can take a boat out on a fishing trip from the local harbour. The town itself is well-served by restaurants and shops and its close proximity to the local beaches offer the chance to get the best of coast and country.

The owner was very welcoming and the cottage had everything we needed to make it feel like home away from home. If you enjoy the rural life, this place is for you. If you want peace and quiet, this place is for you. If life allows, we will be back in a few years.

An excellent location with walks from the door in a relaxing and beautiful environment. Peaceful and pleasurable driving to explore the Lleyn Peninsular, Anglesey and Snowdonia all within a short distance.
Alan
Excellent position for exploring the area. Owner friendly and approachable. Loved all the tourist leaflets - very useful but there are many duplicates and some are rather old. Could perhaps do with a sort out.
