Menuchah cottage in Criccieth is praised for its cosy atmosphere and excellent location, close to the beach, walking paths, and amenities. While some guests found the cottage comfortable and well-equipped, others noted issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort of the furniture and beds.
Reviews indicate concerns with cleanliness, including a dirty undersheet and a shower unit that could benefit from bleaching. The presence of weeds and dead plants at the entrance also detracts from the initial impression.
The cottage's location is highly praised, being close to the beach, walking paths, castle, and shops, making it an ideal spot for guests without transport and those seeking convenience.
Guests have mixed feelings about comfort; some found the cottage cosy, while others struggled with hard beds and uncomfortable sofas. The staircase was also noted as potentially hazardous for older guests.
The kitchen is well-equipped, but issues with the TV, vacuum cleaner, and a leak in the lean-to suggest that some facilities require attention. The lack of a welcome pack and unclear instructions for appliances were also points of dissatisfaction.
There is no consistent mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners. One review noted the absence of a welcome package, but as this is not a recurring theme, it's not possible to accurately score this category.

No welcome package, (1st time ever on Sykes cottage) the room seems over cluttered and no cupboard for our food we had bought. The tiny conservatory at the back was full of tiny flies and the manhole cover banged when going to back door! TV not working, no folder with details of how things worked within the cottage or where the washer was? the fridge is tiny with big freezer section above, if any problem, no phone number! had to call Sykes who where extremely helpful and contacted the owner. Who in turn tried to explain how to get the TV on! still struggling, finally sorted the following afternoon! Meaning, having to wait in the cottage, instead of going to the beach! One thing you really expect is Comfort, sad to say this was completely missing here, the sofa under the stairs, when I sat on it I felt like I was sitting on the floor! Really struggling to get up off this sofa, the second one near TV was so hard and when 2 people were sitting on it , you sunk towards the centre! and again uncomfortable. Checking under cushions this sofa is a sofa bed! The stairs are high and narrow step and steep, prayed the rope on the wall was strong! The double bed was hard as nails! was in agony morning after, at this time I wanted to go home!!! We ended up sleeping on top of the duvet! but still awful weeks sleep! Plus a huge box at bottom of bed (why, taking up a lot space! empty space under the bunk beds) The shower unit could do with a good bleaching! Criccieth is lovely and we had the best weather, but would not be rebooking Menuchah cottage, really spoilt our weekâs holiday.

Gas cooker in rental accommodation not ideal. Bunk beds unsuitable for adults and uncomfortable to sleep on. Also undersheet dirty on top bunk. Room very bijoux. Staircase dangerous for older people especially at night using bathroom. Lean-to had leak when raining hard. One sofa rather low and uncomfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, with both utensils and tableware. Basic food provisions came in handy. However, vacuum cleaner did not work properly. An attractively furnished cottage in a great position close to castle, beach and shops.

It was close to all the amenities and right next door to the castle and not far from the beach. We had a restful stay in Criccieth and enjoyed every moment
