Next stop is the bustling town of Criccieth, home to an impressive castle built by the former Welsh prince, Llywelyn the Great, and the beautiful Criccieth Beach, where you can bathe on the sands, paddle the shores or build sandcastles with the little ones. Venture into the Snowdonia National Park, where you can embark up the famous 3,560-ft Snowdon Peak which offers incomparable views across the park, or if you don’t fancy making the hike, the Eryri (Snowdon) Mountain Railway is available from the village of Llanberis. There are scenic walking trails aplenty, as well as the historic village of Beddgelert, where you can visit the renowned Gelerts Grave or hop aboard a vintage steam train at the heritage railway station. Near the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in North Wales, Chwilog is a small settlement in an area known for its stunning scenery and diverse hiking opportunities. Just a mile from the settlement, the Afon Wen river empties into the sea. Criccieth, a lovely beach village with a 13th century castle perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains, is only a short drive away from the coast. The town's two beaches will satisfy watersports enthusiasts, while the Snowdonia National Park is just a short drive away for walkers and cyclists. While you're there, don't forget to stop by one of the many taverns, restaurants, and tearooms to sample Cadwalader's famed ice cream.
