About this property

This modern and bright bungalow has been perfectly designed to maximise space with the bedrooms at the front so as to benefit from the floor to ceiling windows in the open planned living area at the rear. Nestled in the countryside of the Llyn but just a couple of miles from the sandy shores of Hells Mouth Beach (Porth Neigwl in Welsh), you really do get the best of both worlds!

"What a fantastic base from which to explore the Llyn Peninsula, although if you wanted to hang up the car keys and stay put no one would blame you!"

If you fancy a day out, why not head towards the pretty fishing village of Aberdaron with its sandy bay, shops and cafes. If you’re after more than building sand castles, you can pop to the National Trust site just next to the beach to learn about the history and wildlife of the Llyn or for the more adventurous, follow the coastal footpath to Porth Meudwy where you can catch a boat to Bardsey Island!

If you are after a bit more bustle, head the same distance in the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the popular seaside village of Abersoch.

After a grueling six-hour drive, I was looking forward to a relaxing stay, but what awaited me was nothing short of appalling. On entering the bedroom, I was immediately hit by a musty smell of damp. Upon further inspection, I found mold and damp patches in the corners of the room and around the windows. The wallpaper was peeling off, clearly a sign of long-standing moisture issues. Adding to the horror, I discovered cobwebs, dead spiders, and an overwhelming number of live mosquitoes. Instead of settling in, I was left with no choice but to tackle the situation myself using a battered and filthy hoover, which added to my frustration. The entire property was in an unacceptable state of disrepair and cleanliness. The walls were covered in filthy marks, many light bulbs were not working, and the overall atmosphere was rundown and depressing. The washing machine was no exception—it was disgustingly dirty and emitted a foul smell, making it unusable. The bathroom was also in a deplorable state. The shower grout was brown and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly for a long time, and the bathroom itself felt unhygienic and neglected. To top it all off, the outside sunroom was so filthy and dilapidated that it was completely unusable. I was not in a position to make a formal complaint during my stay due to time constraints, but when I reported these issues afterward, I was absolutely shocked by the response. The owner refused to offer any compensation whatsoever. This is simply unbelievable! Given the disgraceful state of the property, a gesture of goodwill would have been the bare minimum, but instead, I was met with utter disregard and no accountability. All my issues were evidenced with photos, which I sent to both Sykes and the owner, but they still refused to take any responsibility or provide compensation. It’s such a shame, as the property has the potential to be so much better. The views and location are absolutely amazing, but unfortunately, the state of the accommodation overshadowed all of that. My experience at Awelon was an absolute nightmare, and I would strongly advise anyone considering it to look elsewhere. This property is far from what is advertised and needs serious attention before it can be deemed a suitable holiday rental. Avoid at all costs!
