Guests appreciate the warm welcome from the host and the cosy, rustic charm of the lodge, which is well-equipped for a comfortable stay. The location provides easy access to beaches and countryside, making it an ideal base for exploring. While the approach road's condition is noted, the seclusion and natural beauty of the property overwhelmingly delight visitors.
The majority of guests found the property clean and comfortable. However, one review mentioned an issue with cobwebs and spiders, and another noted dust on cooking utensils. These seem to be isolated incidents, as most reviews do not raise cleanliness concerns.
The location is frequently described as peaceful, secluded, and ideal for nature lovers, with easy access to local attractions and stunning views. The only drawback mentioned is the bumpy access road, which may be challenging for smaller vehicles.
Guests consistently report that the lodge is comfortable, with a good-sized shower, a comfy bed, and a warm atmosphere. The property is described as cosy and perfect for relaxation, contributing to a high level of comfort.
The lodge is well-equipped with a well-stocked kitchen and other amenities. Some guests suggested minor improvements, such as additional microwave dishes and better lighting for reading. The driveway condition is a concern for some, but does not detract significantly from the overall experience.
The host's thoughtfulness is highlighted through personal touches like welcome notes, local ale samples, and occasional gifts like Easter eggs. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are a bonus and not a guaranteed feature of every stay.

Not too remote, plenty of places to visit nearby by car, including some very good restaurants. Nice and friendly owners, would definitely stay here again.

The shrubbery badly needs cutting back; it took us two days before we found how we could glimpse the sea (just) from the garden! There is severe rot in one or two places on the front exterior of the chalet, but the photos were taken when it was new. The cleanliness was limited to the obvious areas such as sinks and showers; the cooking utensils in a jug on a worktop were well covered with dust / grease. The chalet was surprisingly warm, the bed comfortable and the shower was good. But the hot water to the sinks ran out very quickly every time, so we needed to boil a kettle to do most washing up or to use the bathroom sink for a wash. The loose rugs added colour, but we found they slipped, or we tripped over their edges. The hens a real bonus, once they discovered us, and the nearby goats were also enjoyable, and Songbird Hideaway is certainly secluded and private.

Barry the owner was very friendly and helpful for directions. The place is set up a little slope and when you park you get welcomed by the friendly cat and chickens. If you love to get away from noisy places this is the best place we have stayed. You can walk in the fields to see the sheep, goats and donkeys.
