While some guests reported issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the cottage's charm and the idyllic setting were frequently appreciated.
Cleanliness received mixed feedback. Some guests found the cottage to be tidy and well-kept, while others reported it as dirty and in need of a deep clean. The presence of cobwebs and concerns over the level of cleaning prior to arrival affected the score.

Comfort had varied reviews. Many guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially highlighting the warmth during colder periods. However, some guests mentioned issues with uncomfortable sofas and chairs, and the heat in the upstairs bedroom during hot weather.
Facilities were generally good, with the cottage being well-equipped. However, there were several mentions of maintenance issues such as non-working lights, broken shower attachments, and unreliable WiFi, which impacted the score.
There is insufficient information regarding the presence of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
A delightful, 17th century, stone-built detached barn conversion, standing in the pretty grounds of the owner's country house and gardens in the hamlet of Welsh Newton, near the beautiful Wye Valley. Lovingly renovated to provide high quality accommodation including two en-suite bathrooms, the ground floor of this Welsh Newton cottage is decorated and furnished in a contemporary style while the main loft bedroom has a sloping ceiling and exposed oak beams, creating a romantic atmosphere. Excellent walking can be enjoyed nearby along Offa's Dyke, and the Wye and Monnow Valleys, while good fishing is available at the Rivers Monnow and Wye and local lakes. Cycling is also available nearby and in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), just half an hour away. With the lovely towns of Monmouth, Symonds Yat and Ross-on-Wye all within easy reach, this is a superb Welsh Newton cottage for couples and families alike.
Welsh Newton is close to the English and Welsh borders and to the town of Monmouth. If walking is your hobby then Welsh Newton is a good choice for you because there are lots of exciting walking routes to take including the famous Offa's Dyke.
