Manorbier is a small, friendly coastal village with regular public transport and its own well stocked shop, Manorbier Castle cafe, a pub and hotel open to non-residents. The beach faces west towards the Irish Sea and is popular with local surfers, while the dunes, rock pools and stream add interest and beauty to any walk along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. In addition to the beach, Manorbier has an 11th-Century Norman stone castle with a small cafe. It's a fantastic place to stay for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the Pembrokeshire coast while avoiding busier touristy areas like Tenby - which is lovely but can feel crowded during summer. The resort town is five miles away, so it is easy to reach by car, bicycle, or foot via the coastal footpath for hardened walkers. It has a wide choice of places to eat and drink, independent shops, a big supermarket and two golf courses for those who enjoy a round.
You may be happiest sunning yourself in the private south-facing garden of the studio with a good book in hand and a cold drink nearby. However, those who want to get out and explore will find a wealth of attractions within a small radius. Animal lovers will enjoy Folly Farm Zoo and Manor Wildlife Park. Take a boat trip from Tenby Harbour to Caldey Island, explore historic buildings like the Tudor Merchant's House in Tenby and Pembroke Castle, or browse the stalls at Narberth market, which runs every Friday morning between April and October. The tiny city of St David's is just under an hour away, with a magnificent cathedral and excellent variety of shops, galleries and cafe's, while the county town of Haverfordwest is only around half an hour's drive. There are two golf courses within six miles. There is a surf school i the village. Horse riding can be booked at Marros riding stables, which is situated on the coast east of Amroth. It is only a 40 minute trip to Dylan Thomas's boathouse and writing shed at Laugharne in Carmarthenshire.
