Glas y Dorlan is a charming cottage praised for its fantastic setting, comfortable social spaces, and thoughtful touches like a welcome pack. While some guests reported issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the property's location and the well-maintained garden are consistently appreciated. The cottage's character and the surrounding area's beauty make it a recommended stay.
Mixed feedback on cleanliness, with several guests mentioning cobwebs and a mouldy smell in parts of the cottage, though the main living areas were found to be clean.
The location is highly praised for its beauty, proximity to the river, and the surrounding scenery, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the social spaces welcoming. However, some discomfort was reported due to a damp smell and dated areas of the cottage.
The property offers a range of facilities, but several guests noted the absence of a washing machine and issues with maintenance. The newer extension received positive remarks, but the older parts were criticised.
The welcome pack with milk and Welsh cakes was appreciated, indicating thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be provided on every occasion.

We had the sort of week you hope will never come to an end - we hope to return soon and often - Thank you
John
The house was excellent with all the facilities required for a comfortable stay and the main sitting area having ample space for 2 adults and 2 large dogs to cohabitate. The garden was ideal for the dogs to have plenty of space to run around and investigate, with the river sufficiently inaccessible to cause any concerns. There is a nice circular walk from the house in the surrounding woods and fields and Newport nearby, is a lovely village/harbour to visit. Would certainly recommend it to friends and hope to come back one day soon.

The newer extension is lovely, large living room, comfortable bedroom, functional shower room. BUT the rest of the cottage is substandard for the money we were charged. The dated kitchen has a dirty, broken sink, the cooker is missing hob dial markings, the window sill grouting is grubby and there is no washing machine. Despite the owner saying there is no space to install one, there are plenty of empty cupboards where one could go. We had to drive to Newport and pay £20 for a laundrette service wash, then go back to collect. In 15 years of booking holiday rental cottages, we have never had one without a washing machine. The rest of the cottage smelt so strongly of damp and mildew my daughter and I got sore throats from it. She had to sleep in the twin room, but none of us could have slept in the older double room. The mould smell was so strong. The older style living room was dimly lit, too dark to sit in at night, smelt of damp and had huge dirty cobwebs all over the place. The stone fireplace was covered in thick cobwebs and home to spiders. It just didn't feel comfortable to spend any time in the room, so we didn't. The main bathroom had a broken skirting board hanging off the wall behind the toilet and cobwebs behind it. There was presumably an oil fired boiler in the locked cupboard in the bathroom as the whole room stank of fuel or oil. I had hoped to have a relaxing bath on holiday, but honestly couldn't have spent more than a few minutes in the room. We kept this door shut too. So for nearly £2,000 my family spent the week in three rooms which I don't feel is good value. The location was lovely and we enjoyed the river bank setting. The facilities offered for outside were on par with what we paid for, but sadly the inside was a real let down and disappointment. The house just isn't clean enough in places and the evident damp problem could be a health hazard for someone with asthma.
