Guests say

Penfeidr Newydd is a charming and cosy cottage in Newport, praised for its stunning location with direct mountain access and breathtaking views. Guests appreciate the warm, homely atmosphere, complete with a wood-burning stove and thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. The property's tranquillity and proximity to local amenities make it an ideal rural retreat, though some guests suggest minor improvements to enhance comfort.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.

The location receives high praise for its tranquillity, stunning views, and direct access to mountain walks. Its proximity to Newport town and the ease of reaching local pubs and shops contribute to its near-perfect rating.

The cottage is described as cosy and warm, with a wood-burning stove and comfortable furnishings. However, some guests mention the main bedroom could benefit from darker blinds, and the beds and pillows are noted as being hard, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful reading lights. However, there are comments about the need for a better shower or bath and anticipation for an upstairs bathroom, indicating room for improvement in this area.

Guests mention thoughtful gestures such as fresh flowers, gifts, and a welcoming host. While these are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Beautiful location and the cottage was very cosy. The views were lovely and our dog loved the enclosed garden to roam around and the mountain behind the cottage. The food in The Golden Lion pub was excellent and plentiful so would highly recommend as well as a lovely atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. The owner John welcomed us with the wood burner going, a fresh pot of tea and also left some welsh cakes and a bottle of wine. Very knowledgeable man and checked in on us during our stay and provided more logs for the fire. The weather wasn’t brilliant but stayed dry, I think visiting in the Spring or Summer would be even better. Thanks for a lovely stay.
