About this property

Enjoy a taste of rural life at this beautiful Brecon Beacons cottage. A romantic bolthole for a couple and their four-pawed pal, it has a secure garden and a wealth of walks from the doorstep. After a day of adventure, stretch out by the wood burner for ultimate laid-back bliss.

A quiet country lane leads to the hill farm where this rustic retreat is located – adjacent to the owner’s property, it’s private and has wonderful views to Pen y Fan. Step up through the front door and the warm and inviting interior has a wealth of original features, including exposed brickwork and ceiling beams. Polished wooden floors covered with colourful rugs and deep-set cottage windows bring character to the lounge/diner. Curl up on the sofa to watch your favourite TV programmes, light the wood burner for a cosy night in, and as the flames flicker you’ll feel a million miles from the everyday. When you’re ready for food, the oak kitchen is compact but equipped with all the essentials of home. A stylish shower room completes the ground floor layout. When it’s time to retire for the night, a quirky wooden staircase leads up to a sanctuary-like king-size bedroom with a sloped ceiling and fabulous views to the Black Mountains. For a breath of fresh country air, simply step out onto your private stone-slabbed patio where there’s a BBQ and garden furniture so you can dine alfresco and, with no light pollution to sully your view, enjoy a spot of stargazing.

With woodlands and a Site of Special Scientific Interest along the Nant Menascin River running through the farm, nature lovers are spoilt for choice here. The river is within 500m and has waterfalls and river pools where you can swim and picnic, and footpaths across the farm lead straight into the Brecon Beacons. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through Llanfrynach (2 miles) for peaceful towpath walks while the cathedral town of Brecon (5 miles) has a host of independent stores and welcoming pubs and restaurants. If you’d like to share your holiday with friends, there’s a camping field below the cottage.
