A gloriously cosy traditional home within the national park and surrounded by grazing sheep; it doesn’t get much more quintessentially Welsh than this. Whether you’re stargazing from your private patio or heading up Pen Y Fan, your local peak (1.5 miles), it’s impossible not to appreciate this area’s staggering natural beauty. You’ll be in a delightfully rural spot with the nearest pub 3 miles away, and 4 miles from the cathedral town of Brecon. Enjoy a solo trip or get away with your partner for a romantic stay in an outstanding setting.
You’ll be wowed by the rustic charm as soon as you step inside this cosy barn conversion, which features exposed beams, oak flooring and homely decor. The country-style kitchen, decorated in light grey hues, is well-equipped with all the modern amenities needed for meal prep. Enjoy home-cooked meals in the spacious living area, which features a dining table, a comfortable leather sofa, a Smart TV, DAB radio and a flame-effect electric fire. Outside, you’ll have a private patio with seating and flowers – ideal for sizzling up dinner on the BBQ and absorbing views over the wildflower pond and meadow as you dine. Across the road is a second seating area overlooking a lake teeming with wildlife.
Locally you can head into St Mary’s church in Candref (1 mile) and embark on a scenic woodland walk along the Afon Cynrig river, adorned with seasonal blooms of snowdrops and bluebells. Brecon has plenty for visitors, whether you fancy admiring the Georgian architecture, visiting the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum or viewing a film at the attractive 1930s cinema. You can also join the Taff Trail, a popular walking and cycling trail made up of riverside paths, forest roads and railway paths, which links Brecon with Cardiff.
