Sitting in a prominent position lies The Maiflour Bakery, a charming duplex apartment above the owner's bakery in the centre of Crickhowell, Powys, where you'll wake up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked bread. Ideal for a family or group of friends looking to explore the nearby Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) or the bustling town of Crickhowell, the property boasts four bedrooms with an open-plan living and dining space. Arriving at the property, stepping through the traditional arched alley and up to the first floor, the kitchen welcomes you, fit with an electric oven, gas hob and a dishwasher, certain to entice any budding chefs of the group. From here the cosy snug, or affectionately known as the cwtch room, invites you to snuggle up in front of the Smart TV, while the sitting room hosting another Smart TV, is available for the group to catch up on the day's events or enjoy a delicious meal at the dining table. Moving through the apartment, the first bedroom, a double, rests on the first floor and offers fantastic views across the town centre and over to the Brecon Beacons. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, the remaining three bedrooms invite you to retire after a long day of exploring the surrounding areas; there is a king-size, again offering delightful views, a twin room, and a twin zip/link, for a more flexible sleep arrangement throughout your stay. Staying on the second floor, the family bathroom offers a bath, shower over and a walk-in shower as well as a basin and WC where you can freshen up between activities; back on the first floor there is a handy cloakroom with a basin and WC, so you will not be short of places to prepare for your day. Give the chef of the group a break by heading out to eat at one of the local eateries, In Crickhowell you’ll find The Bear, and The Dragon, and in Abergavenny, The Walnut Tree, The Angel, and The Hardwick. There are also a whole host of bistros, cafes and Indian and Chinese takeaway options in both towns. In the nearby area there exists an abundance of opportunities for both active or more sedate pastimes. The Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and Black Mountains are famous for their walking and cycling routes, Llangorse Lake has both sailing and canoe options whereas the River Wye at Hay offers kayaking. This town, once a year, hosts the Hay Literary Festival where authors from around the world gather to talk about their latest books, whilst Llangorse also has a climbing and pony trekking centre, the former ideal for rainy days with active children, and Fly fishing can be arranged on the River Usk, with the right permissions. A scenic car journey will bring you to the town of Abergavenny, known for its annual food festivals, the town is also home to Sugarloaf Vineyard, based on the Sugar Loaf Mountain in Abergavenny, the vineyard is open to tourists offering tastings and a coffee shop for a well-rounded day out. Day trips from Crickhowell to local Gardens, museums (Brecon and Abergavenny), castles, markets, Big Pit Coal mine museum in Blaenavon, or even a visit further afield to the Welsh capital and the St Fagan’s National Museum of History, are all possible. For lush greenery, take a stroll around Linda Vista Gardens or enjoy a round at West Monmouthshire Golf Club, both are hard to resist under the impressive landscape. For a spot of history throughout your stay, Bronllys Castle and Crickhowell Castle are beautiful ruins dating back as far as the late 11th century while the Welsh Overland Safari holds guided tours of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
