Both are sites of scientific interest. Gwyndu Cottage is about an hours drive away from 5 of the best places to ride mountain bikes in North Wales. Shame. Anyway, to the review: Prior to arrival, I had a lovely message asking what time I expected to arrive for key handover. Lovely gesture, makes this feel less transactional and way more welcoming. Was asked to message 10 minutes before I arrived, which I duly did from a farm up the road that has a milk machine and donkeys!! More on that on a different review. Arrived at a very well directed and signposted lodge and what a view. David was waiting, and was very patient. David showed us around the lodge, and the surrounding land. Everything was well pointed out both inside and out, and full instructions provided for all things that needed them. Nothing was a problem, and both David and Sonia were on hand if anything was needed, which again is a lovely touch. David even showed us around the other lodge as it was unoccupied, and it's just as beautiful. The lodge itself was gorgeous, so well designed and laid out. Very well decorated. Everything you could possibly want is provided, including a lovely welcome basket. Very considerate. The view from the large bifold doors is outstanding, even on a rainy day! The last day looked like something out of silent hill! Privacy from the hot tub was excellent and the tub itself was immaculate. Probably the cleanest one I've seen. The rooms in the lodge are all excellent, perfectly sized with good storage. Massive bathtub in the main bathroom and large shower in the ensuite. The sofa and indeed all the chairs were very comfy. Excellent kitchen facilities and a huge fridge and freezer. Outside, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Hot tub had speakers built in too! Extra luxury, but to be honest the sounds of the working farm were much nicer to listen to. On that subject, I took a little walk and met some of the young calves. How nice it was to give them chin scratches! I honestly cannot thank David and Sonia enough, what a place to stay. Even had the sweetest message after leaving! Would love to return, this place is an absolute gem, as are its hosts.

David and Sonia couldn’t do enough for you, perfect hosts! Lodge is stunning and so are the views, very relaxing and quiet, the hot tub was also fantastic. Will definitely be back!

  • Jackie

The location has the most amazing views and is so peaceful whether that's sitting on the patio with a drink or enjoying the amazing hot tub. The lodge is spotlessly clean and so many extra details that sets it apart from other holiday lodges. David and Sonia are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We can't wait to visit again (for the third time!)
