Caersws 3.2 miles. Nestled in the Welsh countryside in the small village of Aberhafesp in Powys, Wales is the Old Rectory House. This decadent holiday home boasts luxurious bedrooms, off-road parking for ten cars, a unique cinema room, swimming pool and expansive garden with a hot tub surrounded by the luscious rolling Welsh fields, making this a wonderful setting for a family gathering in the countryside. Old Rectory House was designed by Thomas Penson, who was born in Wrexham and studied with architect and bridge builder, Thomas Harrison. During his time as a county surveyor, he remodelled a courtroom and later built eight beautiful churches. Cross the threshold into the beautifully-presented entrance hall with its grand staircase and head into either of the sitting rooms to unwind on the plush sofas, while the kids entertain themselves in the cinema room. Gather the family around the large dining table and tuck into the home-cooked meal the designated chef of the group prepared in the fully-equipped contemporary kitchen; cheers to your gathering and cherish the memories you have created. Venture onto the patio and delight in a soothing soak in the hot tub while the sun sets, providing a truly memorable backdrop. Retire to any of the eight bedrooms; the ground floor is completed by a super-king and the first floor houses four super-kings, two kings, and a double with a balcony overlooking the grounds. All of the upstairs rooms are serviced by sleek en-suite bathrooms and shower rooms, ideal for maintaining privacy. Be sure to get some well-earned rest before another fun-filled day in Wales. The Old Rectory House lies in a quiet village, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but is just a short drive from Caersws, home to The Unicorn Bar and Restaurant and The Buck Hotel where you can treat your loved ones to a delicious meal or celebratory drinks. This wonderful holiday home is ideally located for those looking to explore castles, such as Dolforwyn and Mongomery, which are scattered throughout the countryside. Be sure to visit the National Trust site of Powis Castle where you can tour the medieval fortress and take leisurely strolls through its expansive gardens. Keen ramblers can enjoy a scenic drive to Snowdonia National Park where they can traverse a variety of walks and trails, the adventurous may even try and tackle Snowdon Peak where they will be rewarded with breath-taking, panoramic views across North Wales. The coast is also within reach; head to Aberystwyth to experience its beach and stunning vistas across the Irish Sea from the clifftops. The Old Rectory is an idyllic base for a large family gathering in Powys, Wales. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 903548, together sleeping up to 30 guests.
Caersws is ideally located for day trips throughout Mid Wales. The village, which sits on the banks of the Severn, is home to a train station, several stores, a church, a few bars, a butcher, and a Post Office. Newtown, a bustling market town located only 6 miles away, is home to a wide variety of establishments such as shops, bars, museums, and an art gallery. Walking, cycling, and fishing are just some of the outdoor pursuits that can be enjoyed in this picturesque region of Mid Wales, and there is also a rally centre run by world champion rally drivers and a clay pigeon shooting facility of international renown. If you're interested in history, the ruins of Dolforwyn castle, perched high above the village of Abermule, and the Motte and Bailey castles in nearby Montgomery are both worth a visit. It's only an hour's drive to Aberdovey, on the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline, a watersports paradise. Stuart was wonderful at helping us settled in and making sure we had everything we needed. The house is a great spce with something for everyone (we were aged 11-80) and plenty of space to congregate together or take time out. The only thing to be aware of is that you need a car and to be prepared to travel for days out, though there are plenty of places to visit within an hour of the house.
