Guests say

Arfryn Cottage in Bangor is highly praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, the property's suitability for families, and its convenient location for exploring North Wales. The enclosed garden and thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, add to the charm of this holiday rental.

Guests consistently note the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'nice and clean', 'very clean', and 'exceptionally clean'. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.

The cottage's location is frequently commended for being perfect for exploring Snowdonia, Anglesey, and other parts of North Wales. Its proximity to local shops and outdoor activities makes it an ideal base, despite some concerns about the steepness of the surrounding area.

Comfort is a highlight, with guests finding the cottage cosy and spacious. The presence of a log fire and the provision of comfortable furnishings ensure a relaxing stay. However, a few guests mentioned the softness of mattresses and thin pillows.

The cottage is well-equipped with modern appliances, including TVs with streaming services and a well-appointed kitchen. Some guests mentioned a lack of certain kitchen items and minor maintenance issues, but overall the facilities meet guests' needs.

The owner's thoughtfulness is evident through mentions of welcome packs with Welsh cakes, wine, and other treats. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is important to note that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Enjoying an elevated position above Bethesda, with beautiful, rugged views of the surrounding landscape to Penrhyn Quarry, is this homely, semi-detached holiday cottage. Just five minutes from Zip World, and 10 from the town centre, Arfryn is perfect for adrenaline junkies, friends, families or even couples exploring this beautiful area. Situated on a residential street with parking for three cars, the cottage is deceptively spacious. The kitchen is well-equipped with fresh, white-gloss cupboards and a breakfast area for four people. The comfortable sitting room has a lovely red-brick fireplace and woodburner, along with a dining table and patio doors leading into the garden. There is also a bathroom and two bedrooms on the ground floor, including a pretty double room with its own en-suite and a nice view over the garden. Upstairs is the master bedroom and a second room with a single bed. In the summer you can dine outside and watch the zip wire action, or bask in the sunshine which warms the garden for most of the day. Zip World is just a five-minute walk away from the cottage, and the centre of Bethesda and all its amenities can be reached in about 10 minutes. The town is a wonderful place to explore North Wales from; you can visit Bangor, Anglesey and Llanberis within half an hour in the car, visit the Ogwen Valley, or make your way to the top of Snowdon for a simply spectacular view! With so much to see and do, you’ll be sure of a fun-filled, action-packed holiday!

Bethesda is a small village settled beside the River Ogwen in North Wales. Situated on the A5 between Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda was once a busy slate quarrying town and nowadays offers a good selection of shops and other amenities, in particular a large number of chapels and pubs.

The location is perfect for all the main areas of North Wales from Snowdon to Llandudno and beyond. The cottage is very comfortable very clean and has all the facilities you need from a well equipped kitchen to comfortable beds and two bathrooms. The owner lives next door and always makes sure you are happy with everything and if any problems he will be there in minutes. A delicious welcome pack always there on arrival. However the property lacks attention to detail, is not of a clean standard. Crockery and oven need replacing as chipped and not functioning properly. There are no protectors on pillows or mattresses.
