Guests say

Tyn Y Coed Cottage in Barmouth is praised for its superb location, quirky charm, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the proximity to local amenities, the beach, and the inclusion of a courtyard. The property's character and cleanliness of bathrooms are noted, although some guests mention a musty smell and the need for better rubbish disposal instructions.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, especially in the bathrooms. However, some guests reported the need to clean kitchen items upon arrival and the presence of cobwebs and spiders, suggesting room for improvement.

The cottage's location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and close to shops, restaurants, and the beach, making it an ideal spot for guests.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, suitable for relaxation. Some concerns about steep stairs and a musty smell on the ground floor are noted, slightly affecting the comfort level.

Facilities like the bathrooms and hot water supply are appreciated, but issues with parking, heating, and a lack of clear instructions for various appliances suggest that maintenance and user-friendliness could be enhanced.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, therefore a score cannot be given for this category.

Overall cleanliness, filthy blinds/extractor fan in bathroom, not vacuumed under chairs/sofas/beds, old clothes left under bed. No vacuum cleaner to use or clothes horse as the property’s yard with washing line is touching distance behind a fence from a cafe kitchen which they have the door open all day and can smell the cooking. Although there is a long stay car park nearby they do charge £5 a day as stated in the description they also charge £10 if you leave the car overnight so the parking charge for the week was quite hefty. But saying this we still had a good holiday and Barmouth is a great place.

It is really quirky and full of character. The location is amazing as its so central in the town. The bathrooms were lovely and clean and there was always plenty of hot water. The bathroom on the top floor is stunning. We slept well as the beds were comfortable and enjoyed relaxing in the TV lounge. However, there were a few small niggles during our stay. On arrival it would have been useful to have a welcome sheet or pack of some sort with key information, including about where to put rubbish- we had to keep taking it out in small bags and disposing of it in the street bins. A larger brush for sweeping the floor would have been handy, we had 2 small children with us who inevitably dropped food on the kitchen floor and cleaning the tiles wasn't easy with the small dustpan and brush. On our first day I had to wash a lot of the kitchen utensils, crockery and pans before we could use them as there was food or grease left on them, I understand that this is down to previous guests but feel that this should be checked before arrival as it was very obvious. There were a lot of cobwebs, I know its an old building but they were in the corners of every room with quite a lot of spiders. There is also a strong musty smell on the bottom floor so we only stayed down there when necessary for cooking and eating. Overall it was a good stay despite those few niggles and we would return as the location was fantastic.

We love the location and the fact that we can walk to everything easily. The cottage is comfortable and cosy. The only downside is having to pay to park on the big car park, £11 for 24 hours adds quite a bit onto the holiday cost. Also we have never been able to work out where the wheelie bin is!! Lots of bins but can’t find the one for the cottage. We took all of our rubbish away with us on both holidays. Saying that, we would definitely stay again.
