Guests say

Pantlleni is a rustic, charming cottage in North Wales, praised for its stunning views, tranquility, and as an escape from modern life. Guests relish the lack of TV, WiFi, and phone signal, enjoying the log burner, Aga, and proximity to nature. While some find the cottage's basic amenities and access road part of its charm, others note areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage to be cleaner than expected, while others report issues with dust, cobwebs, and general upkeep. The property seems to have improved recently, but there are still comments suggesting further attention is needed.

The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views, privacy, and proximity to walking trails and Snowdonia's attractions. The peaceful and picturesque setting is consistently appreciated by guests, making it a standout feature of the cottage.

Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with a homely atmosphere and a comfortable bed. However, some mention that the furniture and bed linen could be updated, and there are occasional comments about the need for better heating and hot water solutions.

The cottage's facilities receive mixed reviews. The lack of modern amenities is seen as a positive by many looking for a digital detox, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues, such as the need for better lighting, kitchenware updates, and general repairs. The Aga and log burner are appreciated, but some guests struggle with their operation.

While some guests mention a welcome pack and improvements like new furnishings, there is insufficient information to determine a consistent level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or extra touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given, and guests should not expect these extras as guaranteed.

About this property

In the heart of Snowdonia, this picturesque stone holiday cottage has stunning views of the lake and mountains. Facing down the valley, it looks across Lake Gwynant to the mountains that rise from the shore. This fantastic view can be enjoyed from the fireside or the garden.

The kitchen has a Stanley range (like an Aga) to provide cooking, central heating and hot water. There is also an electric hob, a microwave and a fridge with ice box. A dining/breakfast area is to one side.

The beamed sitting room is a bright and welcoming room with polished wooden floors, bright rugs and a window seat in a deep bay where you can sit and admire the views.

There is a downstairs bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, wash basin and loo. The utility room has a washing machine.

Upstairs are two bedrooms. The double room looks across the lake and valley and the twin room has mountain views.

The garden has a sunny terrace with a barbecue and picnic table.

Please note, that typical of many remote, rural properties, access is by a rough track.

Pantlleni is very much a simplistic retreat, best suited to those who truly enjoy and appreciate the history and unique charm of traditional Welsh stone cottages. You won't find the latest mod-cons or furnishings, but if you don't mind getting back to the basic necessities you will certainly find a sense of relaxation from the peaceful surroundings of this old cottage.

Step outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Why not pack a picnic and while away a warm summers day by the picturesque Llyn Gwynant? You could even take a paddleboard or canoe on the lake if you're feeling particularly adventurous!

Close to Llanberis, Capel Curig and Beddgelert, Pantlleni is perfectly placed for exploring Snowdonia by car, or for walking the many footpaths that lead to the peaks and along the valley. About half an hour's drive away are the sandy beaches of Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula, and golf, horse riding and fishing are also close by.

The tiny hamlet of Nant Gwynant is situated in the Nant Gwynant Valley, surrounded by some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in the whole of the Snowdonia National Park. Overlooked by the Snowdon, Yr Aran and Moel Hebog mountains and with wonderful wooded valleys, towering rocky slopes, hidden lakes and waterfalls all providing magnificent views, this is a fantastic location for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Enjoy climbing, walking and mountain biking, with one of the main routes for ascending Snowdon, via the famous Watkin Path, starting in the valley. Nearby is Beddgelert, regarded as one of the most attractive villages in the United Kingdom and named after the famous legend of Gelert the dog. This lovely riverside village boasts quality pubs and eating houses as well as excellent outdoor pursuit centres, offering a variety of activities. Close by are wonderful beaches, castles, National Trust properties, slate caverns, mountain railways and the Portmeirion Italianate Village.

! Exactly as advertised, especially the ‘no phone signal,no WiFi, and no tv…….was great to be away from modern day technology, shame we have to come back to it all. Brilliant view from outside towards the lake, I spent hours outside with my camera admiring those views. Also away from light pollution, and so was able to photograph the Milky Way later in the evenings……..clear dark sky’s nights for most of the week. Suppose the main question being is ‘would I stay at Pantlleni againk, we most definitely would….!!

The view out over the lake was amazing and the green space was lovely. A perfect setting to switch off from a busy life and relax. Would definitely use it again.
